Cowboys lose Huggins to Texans
02/18/2002
By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News

IRVING – The Cowboys lost first-year tight end Johnny Huggins to the Houston Texans in Monday's expansion draft.

After the Texans selected Huggins with their 19th pick, Dallas responded by pulling center-guard Ben Fricke off the Cowboys' list of exposed players. It didn't matter, however, because Huggins turned out to be the Texans' final pick of the draft.

The other Cowboys who were exposed for the draft were center Mark Stepnoski, safety George Teague and long-snapper Mike Solwold. Cowboys officials had no comment on the loss of Huggins, who caught eight passes for 36 yards last season and started two games at fullback.

Huggins was projected to be either a TE in the future or a fullback type. He played some games at TE with the Cowboys this season. I believe that the Texans are looking at him as a fullback.

Murph,

Insert patented Bob and Dan giggle here.
Inser sound of Mickey Spagnola hanging up the phone in disgust here.
