Kevin Arnovitz@kevinarnovitz
The Phoenix Suns "7 Seconds or Less" '04-'05 team, which led the NBA in pace, would rank 25th this season.

NBA wanted higher scores so they gave the advantage to shooters and gives on the drive. Teams realized that they can maximize that advantage by getting in more possessions.
The league is no longer balanced for defenders, so this is the natural consequence.

Frank played well tonight. 10pts/7assists/3 steals. Think that kinda stat line is what he will eventually average.

He should be a good all around player. Wouldn’t have been sad to end up with him. He’s like a rich mans George Hill, except more athletic and maybe a purer point guard.

Maybe Knicks fans will put down the DSJ voodoo dolls now.
Also, man I wish we had KP.

Smith looks more NBA-ready out-of-the-box; Ntilikina may have a higher ceiling, if he can stay healthy. He stepped up and confidently hit the go-ahead 3 versus Phoenix (on an assist from Porzingis) last night (which admittedly could've either been ice water in his veins, or not knowing enough to be nervous).
Both players probably got with the team that was best for them.

Man i wish we had Giannis...oh wait.
Imagine the Sixers drafting KP instead of Okafor because of the option to play him alongside Embiid with his range...Simmons-KP-Embiid. Thats just a sick combination of skill, maximum talent and pure size

If they had that frontcourt, they'd be instant contenders with health. Simmons has really impressed this year and Porzingis looks like a worse rebounding and passing, better rim protecting Prime Dirk.

Good to see KP having a breakout year. 38+37+40 in last four is no fluke. Wow.

Oh and lol Clippers losing to the Heat at home. I know the Heat blew that lead, but still, Whiteside>Jordan and it's not really close.

LMAO at the responses like the NBA is soft. Decking a player to the ground like that isn't being tough. That's just stupid. Look at the way Anthony walks off the court. He knows exactly what he did.

Exactly. If that's not intentional, he explodes.

Phoenix got a good deal for him. Greg Monroe is not a piece on a champion, but he's a guy who can score and fill seats while staying bad. First rounder will likely be low, but it's some value. Bledsoe was going to be hard to trade with that big contract.

Yeah good for both teams. I like that the Bucks are going for it with the Cavs looking so beatable this year.
The more important question, will Monroe help the Suns get a win or two or will he be a tank commander?

Great move by Milwaukee. They've been trying to get rid of Monroe for while now. Getting Bledsoe for him is a big win.

Great for the Bucks/Bledsoe -- he'll be a good fit on a playoff team pushing for contention.
Not so great for the Suns/Monroe -- he isn't going to move the needle on one of the worst teams in the league.

Monroe is a pretty decent piece and will make the Suns slightly better than Mr. DNP in the very shor term. Suns aren't contending either way and Monroe is a big expiring contract. Suns basically dropped 15 million off their cap next year with Monroe if they let him walk.

Not sure how this helps a team that nobody wants to play for -- it's just going to make it that much harder for them to meet the cap floor over the next few years.

And thus the Mavs are the big winners.
Monroe shows that overpaid stiffs can still be traded so we may be able to dump Powell next year
AND
Suns may be desperate enough to take on some contracts from us once they desperately fail to sign anyone of significance this offseason.
Okay, okay. I'm taking off my homer glasses. Suns will overpay someone mediocre. Powell is probably still on the team at the end of next season. Mavs are probably still lottery bound next season.

I'd agree, but I honestly think he'll get some significant PT this year...and then after they strike out on all their free agent targets, they'll offer Monroe a significant contract to stay with them because of minimum NBA salary...just like us and Powell.

Suns looking to flip Monroe. I'd say take a look and see if you can get them to attach a pick with it. Team needs to acquire assets.

If they dont find someone they let him expire...makes zero sense why they should attach a pick to "dump" Monroe

Few observations:
There are a lot of young guys in the league making noise. Makes the NBA fun to watch
Tonight, Harden 8-25 with 38 points! 19 got damn free throws...
Last night, Clips lost to the 76ers. Embiid went bananas. DJ? 30 min, 1-2 for 2 points, 5 rebounds, fouled out LOL. And this is without CP3...you would think he would be much more involved offensively. F him for wasting that week of FA, but so glad we do not have him in a Mavs jersey.
