He told the truth. Najera is a forward, and the Mavs were stocked with forwards better than him, so he sat. He is not a center, and can't really play the position with consistency. He will always be an energy guy, who has a role........that is what he is in the NBA.

I thought it was a rather interesting interview. I can't believe that there's not more of an uproar with this. All along, Nellie has told us that the reason why he hasn't played Najera or whatnot has been because of his health. Najera came out and said that simply wasn't true that he was indeed healthy.

It's just further confirmation that Nellie would rather have offense at ANY cost as opposed to playing defensive oriented players. It also confirms that Nellie does some serious lying to the media and to fans to cover his @ss.

The last game before he went on IL was on Christmas against the Kings. He only played one minute. Does anyone remember if he was pulled out of the game due to injury or if he was just in for a minute to give someone else a break?

Well I think najera is full of it. If he was healthy for much of the season he stunk it up. It only seemed at the last that he could even dunk the ball with authority.

Makes you wonder: If Nellie really did make a promise to Cubes to emphasize defense, are we going to end up with half as many players sitting due to injury, or twice as many?

That's why specific defensive performance goals need to be put in place and it made known to Nellie that injuries will not be an excepted excuse. Fire his ass if he doesn't make the goals. It's that simple.
