that's a pretty close call. blocking on the side is not a block in the back... I've seen far worse get by the refs.

the block in the shoulder wasnt illegal. watch the center on the play where holmes catches the last td on though. thats blatant holding.

I just watched it about 15 times. What i can see.
The LT is stumbling into the Center (62). He and the RG commit holding. + The LG grips the Jersey of Cards No. 80. 80 goes down. Don´t know if it´s allowed to drag on a jersey.
The judge on the sideline should have seen it. And there are furthermore 3 judges + one for the endzone-line.

Now i want to say, this call was wrong.

I agree...felt bad for him and most of the Cardinals. Yeah they lost, but it's not like they BLEW it. The Steelers just took it.

The 14 point interception and the record number of personal fouls begs to differ. I think the Cards didn't get in gear soon enough and made too many mistakes. Certainly the Steelers "took it" on that last, excellent drive of theirs, but I thought Arizona could have had it had they been just a little more disciplined.

I felt bad for Warner. Several times you could tell he was looking at his guys thinking "WTF are you guys doing?"

I think the penalties were an issue but the Steelers started to balance that out in the second half and the safety helped, plus a pretty substantial no call was made on Harrison who flat out decked a guy who was on his knees during...a punt I think.

I'll agree though that Arizona really didn't get rolling fast enough. But they DID figure it out and got rolling. Plus that 14 point swing would definitely break the spirit of most teams. It didn't for Arizona, they only got stronger after it.

If you were a team that was pretty much considered wasted space 4-6 weeks before and not considered in the same league as the Steelers and took them to the limit...you didn't blow it and you've upped your value.

That penalty was called. However, it was when the cardinals downed the punt on the 2. Penalty was half the distance to the goal, so it wasn't a big deal yardage-wise.

Going back to the potential clipping on the INT return - which ref would have called it? The ref attempting to run with the play was a good 15 yards back, with multiple players in between himself and the play. I'm not sure any of them had a good enough angle to see the penalty.

Phil Ivey goes with the Cardinals

As I expected, Phil Ivey bet on the Cardinals in the Super Bowl. However, it seems he didn’t do a one million dollar bet. He ended up making a couple of bets for at least $1.6 million. One on the Cardinals in the first half at +3.5 and another on the final, Cardinals +7.

In the final minutes of the first half, the Cardinals were down 10-7, but they’d just driven the length of the field to put themselves fingertips away from a touchdown, or at least in prime position for a field goal to tie it up.

Instead of getting the touchdown, or a field goal, Kurt Warner threw an end-zone pass that was intercepted by James Harrison and run back for a 100-yard touchdown return.

“The point is it was a 14-point coaching error, and it cost me about 800,” Ivey told Greenstein.

That would be $800,000. And you thought your “James Harrison cost me money” story was bad. The Cardinals ended up beating the spread at the end of the game and Ivey ended up a winner, or at the very least broke even. He was kind of vague.

“Broke even or won about 800 total - what’s the difference?” Ivey responded.

What’s the difference? I don’t know, about 89,186 poker chips with your face on them (including shipping). Or 26,675 Hockey jerseys with your name on them. You know, pocket change.

They made that call? I thought it was for something else. I remember Madden making a big deal about it and suggesting that what he had done with the 100 yard play was great but he needed to be ejected for that cheap shot.
