Default Bush Lauded by Medal of Honor Winners

Heros prefer Bush 20 to 1.

Quote:
Bush lauded by Medal of Honor winners

Washington, DC, Jul. 17 (UPI) -- The Bush campaign released an open letter to veterans Saturday signed by 21 Congressional Medal of Honor winners endorsing Bush's re-election.

"We are disturbed," they said, "that John Kerry would try to scare veterans with his false accusations, and we are disappointed in his lack of support for today's troops."

Kerry, they said, has "falsely" attacked the president on the issue of veterans' benefits. "The truth is President Bush has led the way on improving veterans' benefits, supporting our troops and restoring honor and dignity to the White House."

The winners of the nation's highest award for valor also hit hard at Kerry's record, citing the Massachusetts Democrat's as having voted, "against a $1.3 billion increase in veterans health care, skipped votes on concurrent receipt and voted against funding for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq."

"While he talks a good game," they said, "Kerry's record shows he is out of the mainstream," citing as an example Kerry's opposition to a constitutional amendment banning desecration of the U.S. flag. Bush supports the amendment.

I'm glad to see that 21 people support Bush on his military record. Entirely too many people are cought up in how he avoided Vietnam. His cutting of pay and medical coverage for active duty soldiers and their families has been entirely overstated by the liberal press. The reduced support for veterans and the recalling of servicemen who had been honorably discharged up to 8 years ago also show the unwavering devotion of W to his soldiers. The decision of Rumsfeld to send 125,000 troops into Iraq rather than the 250,000 requested by the pentagon serves as strong assurance to the people of America that this administration is strong and knowledgeable and knows better how to fight a battle then those pentagon dimwits. Bush valiently pursued Al-Qaeda until they hid in the Mountains (I'm sure Osama is no longer a threat now that he's in the mountains). He won the hearts of the Iraqis by removing Hussein from power (20,000 heavily armed insurgents and a wash rate of 5 coalition dead a day isn't that much to worry about). He assured us that they did have WMD (other than the chemical weapons that were sold to them by Reagan) and has remained confident they will be found while others have started to doubt it.

Besides all of that, what has Kerry ever done to show his dedication to this nation. Other than his multiple purple hearts for wounds suffered in Vietnam and silver star what does he know about war.

Vietnam swiftboat veterans discuss kerry..

Quote:
Senator Kerry

We write from our common heritage as veterans of duty aboard Swift Boats in the Vietnam War. Indeed, you should note that a substantial number of those men who served directly with you during your four month tour in Vietnam have signed this letter.

It is our collective judgment that, upon your return from Vietnam, you grossly and knowingly distorted the conduct of the American soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen of that war (including a betrayal of many of us, without regard for the danger your actions caused us). Further, we believe that you have withheld and/or distorted material facts as to your own conduct in this war.

We believe you continue this conduct today, albeit by changing from an anti-war to a "war hero" status. You now seek to clad yourself in the very medals that you disdainfully threw away in the early years of your political career. In the process, we believe you continue a deception as to your own conduct through such tactics as the disclosure of only carefully screened portions of your military records. Both then and now, we have concluded that you have deceived the public, and in the process have betrayed honorable men, to further your personal political goals.

Your conduct is such as to raise substantive concerns as to your honesty and your ability to serve, as you currently seek, as Commander-in-Chief of the military services.

It is vital that the American public have as much information as possible about candidates for President of the United States. In various ways, you have rightly called upon President Bush to be fully accountable and to provide full disclosure. In the same spirit, now that you are the presumptive nominee of your Party, we believe it is incumbent upon you to make your total military record open to the American people.

Specifically, we the undersigned formally request that you authorize the Department of the Navy to independently release your military records (through your execution of Standard Form 180), complete and unaltered, including your military medical records. Further, we call upon you to correct the misconceptions your campaign seeks to create as to your conduct while in Vietnam. Permit the American public the opportunity to assess your military performance upon the record, and not upon campaign rhetoric.

Senator Kerry, we were there. We know the truth. We have been silent long enough. The stakes are too great, not only for America in general but, most importantly, for those who have followed us into service in Iraq and Afghanistan. We call upon you to provide a full, accurate accounting of your conduct in Vietnam.

Respectfully
list of signers

I think I'll just let kerry's peers answer for me.

This is clearly a very critical letter from people who actually fought the war. However, their condemnation boils down to the fact that when he got back from war, where he earned the medals and fought the fight, he then spoke out against the war as being unjust. He served the duty for which he was drafted, and spoke out against the morality of the war. What about this is dishonorable. If he had refused to serve, one might call him a coward. This is no different than a soldier now coming back from Iraq having fought honorably and saying that he disagrees with Bush for sending him.

Sort of but not exactly. It seems that have a little more substantial beef with kerry than that they are po'd that they were deployed. I think they are po'd that he called them war criminals, rapists, murderers, you know the normal stuff that jane fonda and the lefties call soldiers.

I think Jane Fonda and the lefties are calling the ones who commit war atrocities (Milai) rapists and murderers. The dropping of Napalm and carpet bombs also might qualify as murder.

Methinks you should read a little bit closer. John Kerry has admitted to war crimes as well.

A transcript on meet the press..

Quote:
Here is an excerpt from NBC News’ Meet the Press’s actual transcript of this morning’s performance:

(Videotape, MEET THE PRESS, April 18, 1971):

MR. KERRY (Vietnam Veterans Against the War): There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down.

So on Meet The Press he admits to War Crimes. That is pretty shocking and I'm not sure why it hasn't been more talked about in main stream media.

The other two links that you sent just said that war crimes did happen and that commanders at all levels knew about them. I'm not quite sure what that refutes. One of the articles on WinterSolider talks about how we terrorized Vietnamese captives in prisons. It sounds from those like the liberals were right to call our policies wrong and to say that our soldiers were commiting war crimes.

The reason that the vietnam vets don't like kerry is that he came back, called them all murdering scumdogs and used it to his political advantage.

So Kerry says that troops in Vietnam commited war atrocities (true) and now veterans hate him for it. Sounds like a whistle-blower who should be lauded to me.

They think he's a liar and has besmirched their honor. Also the atrocities that he noted and quoted have been found to be false, you'll have to look around the winter soldier site. So he besmirched their honor and used the claims to promote his political career.

I don't think I'd laud him if I were them and obviously they do not. They don't exactly laud hanoi jane either, soldiers giving their lives for their country are funny that way.
