Gambling for steals, fluky calls, lucky bounces...
Does OKC ever actually earn anything?

OKC isn't going to beat us 4/7 close games. We need to play with the same effort we did tonight.

So unbelievably deflating. Whatever it doesn't matter. Game 2 is a must win. Dallas is a better team from what I witnessed tonight, if they aren't exhausted after this game they can still win.

No doubt.
Even Durant said it felt bad leaving his hand.

We'll see what happens in game 2.
Dallas got a huge lift from their bench, will they get that next game? Who knows.
Several missed dunks, a three from Ibaka(who was 1-3 on the season).
OKC was lucky to win the game but at the end of the day they won.
Hopefully Dallas can win game 2 but it will be tough.
With the way OKC played tonight, they won't sniff the finals.

Whoever pulled that out was going to have the mental advantage.
OKC is more athletic, younger, has the better scorers.
We had the mental advantage because of last year.
That's all gone now.

If Dirk is going to dribble the ball, it has to be towards the basket. He can't be dribbling laterally out there by the 3 point line, or this is what's going to happen.

So many biased fans on here. Lucky shot? Come on guys. Durant shoots those all the times. He got a nice bounce. Doesn't mean he was lucky.
Also, go to the first two pages, and you will see a bunch of posters saying "easy win". Too many people have WAY too much confidence in this team. We blow leads way too much late in the game.
Anyways, we are definitely not coming back from this. We had this game and we blew it. The mav players are now demoralized.

And the three point pull-up over Perkins was not a great shot. Over all, a little crisper in crunch time, and we would have had this one.

Love the "big league city" fans chanting Dirk sucks when he was at the line. Literally, first time I've ever heard NBA fans chant in unison that someone sucks. Guess I should'nt be surprised, I mean they are Sooner fans.
Anyway, that sucked, we should've won that one. Had it the whole way. Kidd missing that wide open 3 after the steal when we were up 7 ended up being huge. Would've put us up 10 with like 245 left. Probably ending things.
Oh well, got to get it Monday.
And by the way, all you MF'ers on the other threads saying we have no chance...Freaking sack up and be fans punk a$$es. We're the defending champs and we're going to fight until the end.

OKC won't make it past San Antonio (Experience and Poise) or LA (Bigs, Kobe).

Go to the Spurs board pansy a$$.
And yeah, a contested...mid jump hand switch...3 bouce off the side of the rim shot is somewhat lucky, no matter who made it.

OKC fans are just pathetic! Anyways, the Mavs will win game 2 just like they did last year. It's time for payback! Plus Joey Crawford really screwed us in this game giving it to OKC.

Bullshit. We'll only come back stronger after this game. Mavs players know they're good enough to stick with the Thunder for 40 minutes, they just have to show more poise when it counts the most.
Dirk won't play this bad for the entire series. And he had 25 points tonight with 10 FTAs. He'll definitely pour in some 30, 40 point masterpieces. JET, Vince and Marion need to continue to show up.

it actually was a lucky shot.
in basketball its very uncommon for a 16 foot shot to hit the front rim, bounce up 3 feet, hit the backboard, fall back down and bounce through.

Dirk no longer has the first step to beat bigger players off the dribble, hence he gets stripped a lot this year when he drives. His movement is cumbersome this year and it is painful to watch at times.
Can't stand Hubie as a commentator but...
I'm glad Hubie called Dirk out for not rolling to the basket on the PnR. OKC is employing a high trap on the PnR between Dirk and Terry which gives the Dirk the option of slipping the pick until they adjust. Also, with Dirk being fronted like he is, he has to back door cut once in awhile too. The Mavs can't win this series or a game if Dirk is being outplayed by Ibaka. He might have scored the 11 in the 4th, but that was not a good game by Dirk by any means.

That has been the story of the Mavs the majority of the year. Why couldn't Rick roll with Kidd/Carter/Marion/Dirk/ any 5 in crunch time?

Hahah I rather not since I'm a mavericks fan. Thanks for the invitation though even though I didn't need it.
Oh and it is really easy calling me a pansy when you're behind a keyboard. Makes you look real strong. Go head and flex for me while you're at it.
And people saying that was a lucky shot, never play basketball. He got a nice bounce. Nothing lucky about it. Dirk gets those bounces sometimes. Those aren't lucky though.....

While i can't speak for everbody here i am proud of the team tonight
On the road against the No.2 seed and Dallas should have won that game.
So many breaks went OKC's way, Terry's foot on the line at that three, Ibaka hitting a 3 point shot(he hit 1 all year).
If both teams play like they did tonight, Dallas can win this series.
OKC is one of the best teams in the country and Dallas showed tonight they are not going to lay over and just give the series to OKC.
Hopefully Dallas can steal game 2, but this is going to be a tough series to win.

The Heat won game 1 of the NBA finals, but the Mavs hold the trophy.
Lets go steal game 2
LETS GO MAVS!

Chum, to be honest, I still think it was a lucky shot. And, I'm pretty sure Durant would say there was a bunch of luck involved in that shot as well. Unless you really think he meant to shoot the shot both short and off to the left of the rim?
Of course, it does takes some skill and deft touch to put up a shot that has a chance of falling in under those circumstances, but all in all, I'm going to chalk a lot of that ending to good ol' fashioned luck, my friend.

EXACTLY. Durant is great, he scores a lot of points and makes difficult shots, he also gets lucky (just like Dirk does sometimes).
Short, left, 2 bounces, backboard, is lucky. Great skill to get the shot off and a soft touch, but that many factors before it goes through is luck.
