Just saw this on NBA.com. Hope for a speedy recovery, Mark!

Mavs' TV announcer sidelined after bike accident

Posted Nov 3, 2012 8:48 PM

DALLAS (AP) -- Mavericks television announcer Mark Followill missed Saturday night's game against Charlotte after he was injured during a bicycle ride earlier in the day.

The team said Followill, who handles play-by-play duties, would be examined Sunday and it wasn't known when he would return. The injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

With Followill out, radio play-by-play announcer Chuck Cooperstein will handle the same duties on TV. The analysts -- a pair of former Mavericks guards -- won't change: Derek Harper on TV and Brad Davis on radio.

One of the Spanish language broadcasters will fill in for Cooperstein on radio.

Followill has been a Mavericks broadcaster for 12 seasons.

He showed me some pictures of the end result. It's not pretty at all. He was riding his bike, with a helmet, and just hit a bad stretch of pavement and it caused him to flip over.

He's going to need some work done to get back to broadcasting. He's on meds right now and will get re-evaluated tomorrow. He said he'll definitely be okay tho.

He's one of the best in business and so much more entertaining than announcers of the opposing teams, especially the Spurs.

Come back soon!

Still less injury-prone than Roddy...

Best local guy in the biz. Coop is good too, but we hope Follow is OK and comes back soon!

...and bring BobO back to the TV broadcast when you come back.

He must have really done some damage. No tweets, brian says work required before he gets on the air again. Maybe a face mask is needed for celebrity types.

I suppose you're only talking about basketball. The DFW area is loaded with talented radio/TV guys. Nadel is the best.. a likely MLB Hall of Famer before too long.

yeah...I mean best local nba basketball guy. I watch a lot of other non-Mavs games on LP...most other teams' local guys are just awful. I don't watch any other sports, so I'll take your word on that front.

Nadel is awesome as far as baseball goes.. Sham is just about as good in the football booth. The hockey guys are the best in the hockey business. The DFW area is truly blessed. I'd take Nadel over anyone in baseball.

Sham is fat and lazy. He doesn't give near enough detail on his calls.

Followill should be more careful. Myself, I don't think he's all that great. He's competent, yes. But Pinto was as good. I guess the bottom line is that there are 500 guys who can do that job.

Remember Jim durham. He was pretty good with Bob O. in his days with the Mavs. Apparently he passed away today.

Dang. This bums me out. He was good with the Mavs and he was good on ESPN radio national calls as well.

I'll never forget Jim Durham and Ortegal calling game 5 of the 1st round Mavs/Jazz series in 2001. That game and broadcast was the bees knees.

Agreed. I'll never forget Pinto getting what can only be described as sexually aroused when Walker hit a corner set shot for a win.
