The only counter there is that Bullock has been relegated to the bench and his overall minutes decreased. Small sample size, but he has been "punished" to a degree while we can argue if it should be less minutes and to who. Everything else I agree.

The Mavericks and Pistons recently ?touched base? on trade talks in which Nerlens Noel was among the players discussed, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv. Begley adds that Noel has drawn interest from multiple playoff teams in need of rim protection.

Actually don't think it's a bad idea.

He was a top defensive center for a while there and at 28 he's not on the Pistons rebuild timeline

As much as I hate how many Knicks scraps we have and his last stint with us left a bad taste in my mouth, but I would totally trade Javale, Frank, and a second rounder for him. That would make us significantly better when Kleber is injured or having an off game while not costing us a lot of assets.

Trade a 2025 FRP for a decent guard

Nothing huge, but those are a couple of small moves that could make us significantly better.

Gafford despite coming off the bench will. probably be 1-2 FRPs.

I'm not opposed to spending first-rounders, but we don't have one to trade until 2025/2027 as it is, so we will need a move or two that doesn't take picks or. just second-rounders.

Reggie for Nerlens works straight up, and Reggie played for the Pistons. Actually makes a good bit of sense.

Opens up a bigger role for Green and maybe even minutes for Hardy.

I'm not dying to trade Reggie, but is there anything he does better than Green?

Why do the Pistons make that move though? I don?t watch them to know what their needs are.

Michael Scotto: When Dallas offered JaVale McGee his contract and his starting spot in free agency, the Mavericks had high hopes for him, but his production hasn?t materialized, and he?s been out of the rotation lately. If Dallas is going to acquire another center, he?d have to be an upgrade defensively and a contrast to Christian Wood, I?ve heard. 3 days ago ? via HoopsHype

Good question. Maybe we attach a second rounder? I mean, NN isn't doing anything either though, so I don't really know what the market is for either player.

I just can't imagine Bullock didn't come up in talks though. Denver game just felt like it's time to move on. I mean, he was terrible starting and is terrible off the bench. Can't really excuse players taking half the season off even if he does come around. Maybe on a contender with 3 superstars, but the team needs him to produce.

Who woulda though that THJ would be vastly superior? League can be weird.

But I still think the best moves the FO can make are ones that enhance Green and Hardy's role even if the return is meh. Hardy is a volcano that is gonna erupt soon. Can't keep a lid on that forever. And why would you?

Noel is a very meh move. I wouldn't add any picks but I'd swap Bullock just to have more of a necessity to get Green and Hardy more mins.

Noel is still a good defender though in a way that DP is not. League is suddenly in a dearth of good bigs again IMO which is why you absolutely keep Wood.

More I think of it, the more Noel seems perfect.

If he can get open for oops like Powell but also block some shots and anchor the defense, we?d be significantly better.

Some thoughts:

1: Barkley criticizing Lukas accomplishments because of ?pace? is bullshit
2: it has actually gone down under Kidd, which is strange
3: it explains being best in the league in TOs
4: we could score some easy points if we hustled, right? Why does it always have to be slow? I know a slow game gives more practice for the playoffs, but I?d love to see some more fast breaks when presented especially with Luka and the blossoming of Green as a capable ball handler and passer

Team is built for both solid half court off/def and getting out in space and running.

No reason that guys like Luka, Dinwiddie, Green, THJ, etc. can't get going on fast breaks more often. Without looking at stats and just going off of watching them play, they seem to be pretty efficient in the few times they take off.

I don't think being first or dead last is a good thing in the above. Every team has to find a balance and be able to flip the switch on and off.

Mavs 13-13 and 10th place
If we could make a Ft

Mark Cuban says he has raised the free throw topic several times with president and general manager Nico Harrison, vice president of basketball operations Michael Finley and Kidd. ?I told them to figure it out,? he said. ?They know it?s an issue. That's cool. I wonder if he's addressed these scrubs on our team.

I mean, at least there's accountability and call for action.

Of course, can they implement it and improve is the big question. As a pro, looking at those stats has to be embarrassing. Luka especially given he is an all-world player who seemingly has a higher ceiling if he could make his freebies and in turn make life way easier on himself.

Other than a freak FT night, we were on pace to beat the 2nd best team in the East
Then we lost a designed loss. No superstar. Down two of our best defenders. On a few hours of sleep

If we didn't have the FT issue, we'd have the best record in the West.

This toxic fandom is honestly trash.

Every fan on here takes shots at this team, owner, coach, players. Idk if this is a bit or serious. It does get toxic, but there is not a world where a teams fans are all roses and never will be.

Almost every team can do the "if this thing wasnt happening we'd be much better"

every fan base is crazy on some level.

Out of boredom between various random sources.
Kuzma, Bogdanovic, Noel, were linked to the Mavs. There's always random rumors and rarely things pan out from them, but I'd be interested in Kuzma to get some more athleticism if we could swing it.

Kuzma isn't a bad idea. I just haven't ever really bought into him being a legitimate star. Maybe the rub is from the Lakers days of them trying to anoint him the 2nd star to LeBron.

It would come down to cost with him being a FA next year after a likely opt out. He certainly would add some shot and play making abilities.

Bogdanovic - which one? Obviously Bojan is likely to be moved and would be a good piece for anyone really. I'd keep tabs on Bogdan though, as he's technically expiring, though it really depends on where the Hawks think they're heading. They've already signaled the desire to trade Collins and of course the Mavs are rumored as interested.

I think a trade with the Pacers could still work out. Carlisle might value say THJ and Powell more than the rest of the league. It would be tough to pull off as other teams could offer more, but I'd love to see Myles Turner in a Mavs jersey with a McConnell throw in. Though I think at this level of a trade, teams would be asking about Hardy.

I don't see Kuzma as a star either, but he has the ability to be one. It's more likely that he would be a good fit as 3rd best player on our team.

Bojan, but I'm not sure how much left he has in the tank.

Kleber is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Torn hamstring at practice.

Omg. Mavs are screwed. Can?t exactly tank, but they may not win enough to make the playoffs without Maxi.

Fuck. That is not good at all.

For Wood, how comfortable is he as a stretch 4? It would seem an opportunity to start Wood with Luka, THJ, DFS and Powell and have Spencer run the 2nd unit. McGee is the only other big and he's not been good.

McGee would seem like the guy to start next to Wood, but he?s been so bad, that he can?t even get minutes against teams like the Cavs. What a disaster the offseason was.

I can say I had higher hopes for him, for sure. Thought he'd be at least an upgrade on Powell providing size and rebounding. That usage of the exception has not worked out at all to this point.

We should have been running Wood and McGee together from day 1 IMO. This experiment has spun out of control.

Yikes. Add in Tyler Bey who fell off the map for unknown reasons.

Oh, and Josh Richardson who is having a good season and overall been good with Spurs. All of that moaning over losing Curry and Jrich actually is that player just for another team. And we gave him away for nothing.

What the hell is wrong with our franchise?

Quite a bit.
