Damian Lillard has been looking goood. Hopefully DC and co. can neutralize him a little bit.

I'd really like to see OJ work at creating more offense. He's on fire from 3 right now but 63% isn't gonna hold up forever.

Looking forward to watching Kaman go to work.. dude was impressive working on the low block against the 'cats. DC..... just keep doing what you're doing. Easily Mavs MVP so far.

Trail Blazers at Mavericks 7:30 p.m. today, FSSW, KESN-FM (103.3), KFLC-AM (1270 in Spanish)

Scouting the Blazers

They have had a nice start, largely because of the play of rookie point guard Damian Lillard, the sixth overall pick in the draft. Lillard joined Oscar Robertson as the only players ever to start their careers with at least 20 points and seven assists in each of their first three games. Great young player, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. He has an air of confidence about him that?s really impressive. We got to throw the kitchen sink at him. He's that good. Lillard's output, of course, comes in addition to that of Seagoville product LaMarcus Aldridge, who is averaging 22.7 points and 9.7 rebounds through three games. The Blazers are coming off an overtime win in Houston Saturday.

Scouting the Mavericks

They are coming off the best 3-point shooting game in franchise history at least by volume. They hit 16 of 25 from beyond the arc against Charlotte on Saturday, and the 64 percent success rate was their highest ever when trying at least 25 3-pointers. We shot the ball with confidence, said Vince Carter, who was 4-of-8 from downtown. And it wasn't like we ran a play for the shots. That was just something off of making plays, guys getting in the paint and finding the open man instead of forcing shots. Overall, the Mavericks shot 61.3 percent against the Bobcats, their highest shooting percentage in nearly three years (65.5 percent against Houston on Nov. 25, 2009).

If someone else was "supposed" to start the damn game day thread, then they should have woken their ass up at 12:01 AM CST to make sure it was posted. Personally, I think that whoever thinks about it first on the day of the game should just post it.

Mavs won championship. Don't care.

In all seriousness, I don't think the basketball gods really care who starts a game day thread.

Toddlers feel it internally, but they don't understand it. To them it just is. It takes years to become so ruined and superstitious.

It's only weird if it doesn't work.

Given our past performances, I think it's safe to say that our superstitions on this board are weird.

I'd like to see some scientific proof that our superstitions don't work.

Blazers weakness seems to be their bench. So far Mavs bench has been really good. Hope they take advantage.

Does Kaman start yet? If so who goes to bench. Brand or Wright?

One Championship in how many years of existence?

I thought it was pretty clear by now that it was the bicep tat. Not the gdt.

Flying into Dallas for two nights. Mavs game here I come! My first live game since we played (coincidentally) the Blazers, game 5 of the playoffs where TC was an offensive rebounding machine.

Lets go Mavs!

Lol @ people getting mad because someone who "wasn't supposed to" starts a random game thread during the regular season. That is just ridiculously lame. The game is played on the court by players who have nothing to do with this board. Geez.

In the past, the idea was that the same person would keep starting the GDTs during a win streak. Then after a loss, anyone else could give it a go.

From a superstitious standpoint, the system is doomed to fail by design every time. So the point was actually more to test your luck and see how high you can rack up your streak, and anyone rude enough to interrupt would be mocked, scorned, and frowned upon.

Seems kinda dated now though, I must say.

No, dummy, the newbies don't know about it at all and are the ones getting targeted for ruining it. Its heyday was back during in the 60-win seasons when people were racking up long win streaks.

Wright traditionally hasn't matched up well against Aldridge, but maybe his added bulk could keep him from getting tossed around like a rag doll? Otherwise I'd like to see a healthy dose of Kaman/Brand to muscle LA out of his sweet spots Ã* la Haywood.

Looking forward to watching Kaman go to work.. dude was impressive working on the low block against the 'cats. DC..... just keep doing what you're doing. Easily Mavs MVP so far.
That is when Mayo gets into trouble, his handle isn't great and his lack of explosiveness hurts him, that was his main problem in Memphis, they tried to make him into a pick n roll guy which he isn't. He needs to be much more of a catch and shoot and 1 dribble pull up player. Collison can create more (he had the opposite problem in Indy than Mayo had in Memphis).

I actually have to disagree with you... OJ can excel in the pick and roll. And with Mavs bigs and in special Dirk he will be a great weapon. Hollins tried to make OJ a catch and shooting guard and a guard that get open with screens a la Rip Hamilton. OJ is more of that drible shooter that you suggest. He need the ball in his hands to operate better. He shoot better this way and he also can dish open perimeter guys or the big man of the pick and roll.

Tough test for Collison tonight against Lillard the kid has been a beast so far. Predicting another big game for OJ. I think he may become a Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to home and away games with his play. Just a hunch from seeing the tend between his preseason and early season play.

Finally a tough opponent for our team. Should tell us a lot about the quality of our offense and defense. The game vs. NY will be also a perfect test for us. If we win both games we will make some serious noise. Can't wait.
