Got around to watching LA X again and it finally dawned on me that the revised Incident happened in 1977, not in 2007, hence history was changed from 1977 onward, hence Hugo is the luckiest guy on earth, what's her skinny face didn't fly back with Boone, etc...
I'm a little slow to figure these things out, but I get there eventually.

her name was Shannon... and she got Booned. Although I guess we should say she got half-booned since in one reality that abomination still exists.... despite the coming objections from an alien being.

Nope. It has been on Wednesdays / Thursdays in the past.
No one wants to go up against the monster that is American Idol. That is why there has been many time changes.

Fake Locke going after Sawyer...predictable but not bad.
Good stuff from Sawyer tonight and every scene with that cat from The Last Samurai is good.

Well crap. I barely watched it. The Stars game and their big trade was pulling my attention in a lot different direction.
This week we got kate giving people funny looks in the ALT reality, like maybe she sensed something. Interesting. No, the other thing. Tedious. That whole ALT thing needs to pick up some steam.
Are we almost done with emotional sad Sawyer?
So Sayid is Sayid...but...he's infected in the same way that Rousseau's team was. How exactly does that work? I can see how Claire was "infected" because she was palling around with the smoke monster for some weird reason. And she's not dead, btw. So a lot of people were wrong there, looks like.
That was some vintage jack tonight. Being a douche.
Kate episodes....they kind of suck. Which is to say they're still LOST (greatness), but you know...sucky LOST.

Couldn't agree more. And how did Kate become such a bad ass fighter? She's like Echo but for no good reason. She took out a U.S. Marshall with a ladies bathroom stall door last week and now she takes out Mac with what looked like a hard push to the face.

Well, she did go hunting as a child...and her dad (real dad) was in the army. And she had a rough life, plus she's cut for a woman. I don't think it's too absurd. Though I recall Juliet f*^&ing her up one time...which doesn't really make sense.

By the way, I did enjoy "Aldo" (good thing to name your kid if you effing hate him) admonishing kate for not remembering him.
Here's his legacy, here: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Aldo
I did not remember that at the time.

That scene where he swallowed the pill was the best part of the episode. Jack just doesn't give a F$%*.
Right now, the only other thing i can say is:

oh one other thing...
Ethan Rom as Dr. Goodspeed. So he is Horace's son, perhaps?
Edit: Damn, just remembered we already knew that from when he was born last season. He just wasn't using the last name.

A huge question I had from last night is...who is that chick's husband (who left her just before Claire knocked on her door)
Its gotta be someone we know, right?

two episodes, no cleavage.
it finally occurs to me that the events in the 'alt-past' are...in the past. Oceanic 815 crashed in 2005 (I think), hence the folks in Los Angeles are chronologically 3 years or so behind the folks on the Island.....
...so maybe something happens in the alt-past that brings them all to the island, albeit not as before. That is if the alt-past is subtly changed then maybe the alt-present has changed as well. Maybe the direction of the alt-past story line is going to tell us how they wound up on the island after the revised Incident....
...then again that ex-stewardess chick with the new lost crew recognized them from 815.
nevermind.
I'm a lost idiot.
also, no cleavage sightings last night <---my only meaningful contribution to Lost discussion for three seasons running.

Juliet is dead. Cleavage is going to be at a minimum. And jungle Claire's cleavage...well I doubt it.
Yes sike, something smokey related. I mean, that Japanese pitcher in the temple wanted to kill him, but I think the ash test proved that he wasn't smokey himself. I don't know how it works, but evidently Claire's got it bad. It will be interesting to see how that works out.
We were basically told last night that Sayid and Claire, two original losties, are screwed.

You seriously don't think we've seen her husband before? That would unLOST like...and pretty weak writing.
"Oops, sorry....my man just ran out and we don't want your bastard."
there HAS to be more to it than that, right?

Wasn't it just a mechanism to get Kate to the hospital with Claire?
I don't know. I haven't figured out this other timeline yet. I can't figure out if it all means something. Where are they going? Was it important that Kate go to the hospital?
Let's put it this way...if I have to find out who the husband was, that means more kate and claire boring arse story. So I hope it's not that way, personally. I'm sure they have some much juicier things to wonder about coming up.
We didn't get any fLocke/Ben stuff last night, so you can bet that someone on that side of the island is getting the centric next week. The previews looked Sawyer/Locke heavy.

I'm with Flac, I think that's a non-story.
I thought we got more subtle clues that the alt-timeline people may eventually start remembering or become aware of things from the other timeline. Kate seemed to half-recognize Jack and she responded to the name of Aaron. I find the alt timeline stuff fascinating myself.
Jack stuff beats me, as always. I don't know how I feel about them messing with Locke AND Sayid's characters.

I liked the episode last night. I enjoyed it. Dogen playing with the baseball.... check out these facts on possible significance of that.... or at least subtle references maybe (borrowed from thefuselage):
1. Dogen seemed to exert an almost supernatural control over the baseball. (questionable)
2. The baseball seems out of place in the temple setting.
3. The only previous mentions of Baseball in the past had to do with Jack (his dad lamenting that the Red Sox will never win it all, Ben showing Jack the footage of the Sox winning it all, and Lapidus discussing mentioning the Yankees. There may be other connections).
4. Jack seemed to perk up when seeing Dogen with the baseball.
5. The object of Baseball is to get you and your teammates home, while also preventing your opponents from reaching home. This could not be more relevant to the struggle for the Island.
6. Oddest of all, a regulation baseball has 108 double-stiches in it, same as the beads in a Catholic rosery (for you Bull Durham fans), but more importantly 108 is the sum of 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42, aka The Numbers.

It's a good thing Hicks doens't own the Rangers any more. He might sign that Dogen guy to a 5 year, $65 million contract.

My wife was asking me yesterday if I thought (before the episode) if Sayid is the smoke monster or Jacob, and I replied that "they already hijacked Locke's character, I don't think they'd do it to us twice."
So I don't think that what they're doing with Sayid is the same as what they've done with Locke. Sayid still seems to be Sayid, but maybe he'll be changing?
Are they setting up, like...teams?
Locke, Claire, Sayid and Sawyer vs. Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun and Jin? Is that crazy?

I really hope its more complex than SmokyLocke/Sawyer vs the rest...that seems so played out.
I hope for better...and believe it will be better.

The thing is...we still don't know what the stakes are. What the end game is.
That annoys me. Why can't we know what this is all about? Knowing that Frodo was going to Mount Doom to throw the ring in didn't ruin the story...

OK READ THESE OBSERVATIONS AND YOU WON'T NEED TO WATCH ANOTHER EPISODE. I have done all the math for you.
1) Sayid's body is "hosting" (or "infected" with) Jacob. We will see a Locke 2.0 vs a Sayid 2.0 battle in the near future. This is why we saw Christian Shepherd sightings on the island as well- someone (presumably Jacob or MIB) had assumed control of his body.
2) You guys have clearly never seen the movie Sliding Doors (this is my 3rd time to reference it w/out a peep for you guys.) Same concept. Two realities occurring simultaneously. At the end of the movie, they merge. THAT is what will happen here. Mark it down.
3) I think we will def find out who the ladies Dbag husband was.
4) I can't stand the other Others. The Lennon character w/his granny glasses is so trite. They annoy me.
5) Nothing annoys me more than how Kate follows Sawyer around like a puppy dog. Except Lennon.
OK, I'm gonna re-watch it tonight and hopefully have more for you.
Love you all. Xerxes out.

don't hate! I actually think it would be cool if the reason they put a baseball in there was because of the stitch count. Now as to the object of Baseball.... that is quite a stretch I agree. But with Carlton/Damon you never know....

this thread has, once again, taken a turn for the worse.
here are some other random epiphanies i've had:
1) claire is, as mentioned above, like the newest latest version of rousseau. she's wild and living alone on the island and has lost a child.
2) rousseau lost her daughter to ben and claire lost her son to kate. which prob means nothing except for the fact that in all the season 6 promo pics of da vinci's last supper, kate was sitting in judas' seat. maybe a coincidence.
3) i have a funny feeling kate is going to be the one to bring these two realities together or keep them apart- and i have a feeling its going to involve her betraying someone...
4) which she has been caught in a love triangle for 4 out of 5 seasons- so duh, of course she is going to betray someone.
thoughts? musings? hugs?
