My guess Justin is now turning it up and become Crowder 2.0
But its good to have allready two younger major pieces with Barnes and Noel. Should make it easier on the FA market

I wonder if they shift Barnes back to SF to make room for NERLENS in the starting five

I'm sure it's going to be explored since you get a little more athletic and long, especially defensively.

RFA this summer. I expect at least $20M per year when we sign him.

So glad the Mavs didn't bite on Okafur.
So this trade is basically Justin Anderson for Noel? Wow if true. Just wow. Just shows that Anderson really did have good trade value after all.

Oh man. We are gonna be garbage for a while. What are the protections next year? Surely it doesn't turn to cash after this season?! Come on Cubes and Stein. Tell us the whole story. This pick is what's important.

Just saw this on Reddit:
Philly gets fucked here. top 18 protected, than lottery protected, than becomes a 2nd round in 2019.
So NOEL for Anderson and a 2019 2nd.
Not sure if true though! If true, brilliant.

If we miss the playoffs, we keep this year's pick... OKC is currently sitting at the #19 spot -- they'd have to finish 7-18 while the Mavs finish 18-8 for us to lose it.
Also, D-Will might still be in play -- no reason we can't get some more picks.

@espn_macmahon: Andrew Bogut says he is considering his options after being traded to the 76ers. A buyout is a strong possibility.

Are we?
My guess is Dirk again declining his player option so the Mavs have the option to throw a max deal at someone. If we get lucky we are getting another great piece.
Center position is fixed (yes, we pay Noel), so in the FA we are going to go after a PG. Holiday, Hill, Teague...if we strike out there maybe someone like Millsap.
Teague
Wes
Barnes
Dirk
Noel
+ Rick
Thats a playoff team

Definitely helps sell the team in FA to have an athletic young Center already on the roster. Add Holiday or Hill and that's a killer defensive lineup

Nerlens is basically a young Tyson Chandler. Really really like this trade and having him for the future. Dont care to max him out now.
Last season his per36 were 14/10/2/2

I really can't tell if I like the trade. I really can't. That pick is a big part.
Positives
We've rarely had a good center. Tarp and Chandler are about it.
No free agent centers this summer so it was our only chance
Didn't give up much depending
negatives
Pick, depending on how it turns out
I liked Simba
Noel's attitude and health
plays the same position as Dirk who plans on 1-2 more seasons

I wouldn't doubt it. He's a rental so if we offered anything more than that, we seriously screwed up.

To clarify, the Mavericks' pick to Philly dissolves into two second-round picks if not conveyed this summer.

Sources: If Sixers do not receive Mavs top-18 protected pick this season, it converts to 2 2nd-round picks: Mavs 2nds in 2017 and 2018.

Noel has tons of untapped potential too. Still growing offensively. This could look like a huge steal in a few yers when he's on the cusp of his prime. Easy to forget he's still that young
Love this trade(2018 pick protection dependent)

2017 2nd and 2018 2nd.
So 2017 and 2018 second round picks and Anderson for Noel. Still a really good deal.
Right now nbadraft.net has us at 37 for a second round pick in the 2017 draft.
