Stars/Canucks Game Two
For my boy Flacolaco, so he can absolve himself of any responsibility.
We kick that ass tonight. It will be a level series coming back to Dallas.

May your ulcer come and go swiftly!
I predict 4-3 Stars. Goals from Morrow, Modano, Ribeiro, and Stu Barnes. And an Ott fighting major.

From 1:45 a.m. to 2 a.m., KDFI (Channel 27) averaged a 1.7 rating in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, which translates into approximately 40,500 homes. From midnight to 2 a.m., the Stars-Canucks averaged a 1.6 rating, making it the highest-rated program in the time slot.
Overall, from 9 p.m. on Wednesday to 2 a.m. on Thursday, the game averaged a 1.5 rating, which translates into approximately 35,700 homes. The game peaked at a 2.3 rating during the second period, from 10:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. That's about 54,750 homes.

Maybe that's not very good....but it's good for hockey.

How do they figure out ratings? Is there some kind of microchip inside each T.V. that electronically sends a signal or something? wtf

I have researched this topic before, because ratings piss me off and seem inacurate. Ratings seem to be entirely generated by the Nielsen company, which puts boxes in random homes througout cities, also they will send people these books to fill out, like a tv journal.
Somehow this is supposed to be a representative sample of the whole population. But out of the 8 or 9 people posting in the game GDT thread the other night, how many of their viewerships were being taken into account?
I was sent one of the little books once. I fudged it terribly. I wrote down that I watched every single hockey and basketball game that was on, every single one of my favorite shows regardless of whether I watched it or not. I saw it as my chance to finally get my 2 cents in. I sent it in, and they gave me 10 bucks.
You can read more about it here:

I believe I might just be tuned into this one. I enjoy a game every now and then, and do enjoy the playoffs if I have time to commit myself.
If I'm watching I'll be sure and join the thread during the game, just for Flac.
Now I just have to decide if I want to be as negative as Flac is in the Ranger threads.

He's equally as negative in the Stars GDT's as well. I was depressed by the middle of the 3rd before we scored the 2 tying goals because of his negativity. I almost got my dress blues on.

Me?? Negative????
I'm working on it, I promise to be good for the Mavs this year and maybe tonight. I think everyone knows how I feel about the Stars.
(but if they get down by 2 or more tonight, all bets are off )

You know, if you think about it, distracting opponents with his French porn star moustache is actually kind of a brilliant move by Hagman. Much more effective than your ho hum playoff beard.

They sure looked hungry.
They had a few chances to take a more commanding lead and Luongo stood extremely tall. They're going to have to keep attacking. If they lay off, the Sedin twins will strike hard.

I guess a 2-0 lead isn't as interesting for everyone as the other game was....
Nucks pushing hard at the end there. Stars need to push back

They look real good. Just need another goal or two. But Marty looks sharp & that was a nice defensive stand at the end when Vancouver started to get some sustained pressure.
Try to beat 24 seconds in this time!

Eaaasy big fella.
And trust me, it will be Detroit if it happens. Unless the Wild man up and take down the Ducks...not likely though.

The last time I paid attention to the Red Wings, they had Yzerman and Fedorov, and that Bowman coaching. Would I even recognize them these days?
