As long as Walker ISN'T signed to a new deal(yet), and still has that expiring contract of his, there will be talk from now 'till the next offseason if he survives......

This was SUPPOSED to be a picture of Toine....But I guess even the Forum itself got sick of seeing him...

There's no chance this forum dies.
I guarantee you that within a week people will be suggesting deals to make over the summer, and who should be signed in free agency.

MT
Cuban has a policy that he doesn't sign new contracts till the old one expires(see Nellie last year and Nash this season). I like what Walker brings to the team personally and think the team is better off than if we had not traded for him...BUT...I believe that by the trade deadline next season the "sweetheart" deal we wanted this year just may come for Walker's expiring contract and we will have almost no choice but to trade him. That is the way things are set up to happen...IF he survives the summer.

UNLESS we win the championship. Then the team will probably remain intact.

The Spurs HAD to make moves - Robinson retired.

MB ..."Cuban has a policy that he doesn't sign new contracts till the old one expires(see Nellie last year and Nash this season"
Nellie was a coach deal without restrictions. But Nash is much different, and so is Walker, so there is no way to assert a pattern here.
Re Nash, based on league rules, Cuban couldnt sign him now (or anytime in the past) to a deal that Nash would agree to, even if he wanted to. I suspect on that one that he would if he could. For a point of reference, he signed Dirk to a new deal a year earlier than he had to.
Re Walker, he could do a deal now, if he knew what he wanted, and if Walker agreed. A new deal could happen this summer, if the Mavs intend to keep him.

And just to clarify, Mark's policy is that he won't (re)negotiate contracts or talk about extensions during the course of a season. It's not that he minds dealing with it earlier, it's that he feels those matters are most appropriately dealt with in the offseason.

I for one.....hate dumb trade talk.....so whatever keeps it out of the Mavs section is fine with me!
