Worst Directors
The Best/Worst Sequel threads are good, and the Favorite Directors thread was pretty good. So, which directors' movies would you avoid like the plague? Who are the WORST directors out there?
For me, it's gotta be John Woo.
I hate your movies, John Woo. Hate them.

Nora Ephron, only because she keeps making movies that my wife drags me in to see.

John Woo hasn't done a lot of good stuff in America, but his Hong Kong films are pretty awesome.
As for women, Sofia Coppola has a short, but decent track record.
Off the top of my head, I'll probably go with Michael Bay.

I loved A River Runs Through It... also enjoyed Ordinary People, Bagger Vance, Quiz Show, and the Horse Whisperer....
He's a two time Academy Award nominee as a director and won for Ordinary People.. I think you're a bit off on that one.

He is an "over-director" in my opinion...If you told me he directed The Natural, then I would change my opnion, Murphy3....the list you gave has one movie that had potential - but it brought nothing close to the emotion of the book. Which is ironic because he tries so hard to make every scene emotional... it just doesn't work for me. I agree with alot of your movie choices, but in these few cases, disagree.

Perhaps you need to re-evaluate the movies and get back with me.

I have seen A River Runs Through It and The Horse Whisperer at least 10 times each thanks to TNT - they know drama.

The Horse Whisperer isn't great.. neither is Bagger Vance.. and perhaps Redford didn't create as good of movies as he should have.. but, I still enjoyed both.

I know any disrespect the Usual Suspects is blasphemy around here, but I really don't like Bryan Singer.
