Rangers get prospect for Yan
The Rangers have sent righthander Esteban Yan, who had been designated for assignment, along with an undisclosed amount of cash to St. Louis for 22-year-old outfielder Rick Asadoorian, who was considered among the brightest young outfield prospects in the game when drafted by Boston in the first round of the 1999 draft. Asadoorian, traded by the Red Sox to the Cardinals in a deal for Dustin Hermanson after the 2001 season, has largely been a disappointment as a pro. Much more in the next NMLR. |

Asa was a first round draft pick and was the highlight pick of the draft a few years back. He's been a monumental bust since then.
Yan was gone so getting anything in return is a plus. |

Yea its pretty much if you are on your downside of your career and you want to be an allstar again, go and get traded by the rangers and you are a sure in the next year.... lol Just common knowledge... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

True MFFL. Our track record is not so great in that regard. But Yan really hasn't been a great pitcher anywhere and he was dead wood here. Not only that but he was taking up mound time for some of the younger guys.
