Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Dallas and New Jersey being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and New Jersey had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Diop
George
Harris
Stackhouse
Ager
for
Kidd
Allen
it works...

EDIT: Nevermind, this trade does work salary wise.

It only has to be within like 25%, I think.

Could be. But then again, we can actually run a real offense now.

The more I think about it, the more I don't hate this. Okay so we lost Devin for Kidd. We couldn't have played them both anyway. We also lost 2 backup players. Diop hurts a lot more than George. Losing Ager is a plus. Losing the picks sucks too but we're thinking about now.
Kidd only cost one starter which is good... We still have Howard and Dirk. And they are going to be sooooo much better because of Kidd.
Just imagine Kidd feeding an open Dirk for 3. Man, this could be fun.

Looking at the pictures on realgm it just makes me sad
Just makes me realize how much I loved those two guys. I'd love to have seen Harris go out playing rather than injured but no point in crying.
then there is Devean "play me even though Im old and fat" George... cant say I will miss him much.

Hopefully this rumor is false, otherwise the Mavs will struggle to make the playoffs.
Jason shoots 36%, Devin shoots 49%. Who is going to even try to guard Kidd?
Which point guard in the West can Jason stop? Name just one!

I'm just glad that NJ is in the east because I wouldn't be able to watch Devin play on a different team vs us 4 times a year.
edit: and we officially have a big 3 again

This is true. That'd be really hard. I don't even like looking at that picture of him.

Get ready to see a side of Howard we've never seen before. Kidd brings out better than the best in his swingmen.
It's sad to see those guys go but I am extremely excited about our chances now.

Well, George was a should be starter in the lineup, and Stack was a sometime starter, and Diop should have been splitting the starter minutes with Damp, rather than those minutes going to small ball.
This is what, the 2nd third of our team going away for an upgrade in the top third?

I think that Kidd's leadership ability was an important part of this decision. If, for example, Avery was losing some of the team a new voice will help get them motivated again.

Avery also doesn't know how to teach a PG to lead and run a team. At least Avery will trust Kidd.

We're gonna make a strong post-all-star break push. Hopefully we peak at the right time and hopefully Kidd plays out of his mind. He really wanted to come here so I hope he's motivated.

i'm getting more and more excited about this. Remember how highly all the USA players talked about kidd. They LOVED having him on the team, especially kobe and lebron. If he's good enough for LeBron and Kobe, he's good enough for me.

Devin played very good against Paul and Parker. I agree, this frees those guys up to have huge games against the Mavs.

Damn I'm excited. Can't wait to see if we can make a move for Miller or another SG. Bringing Miller in sounds really good now.
C'mon Cubes. You've already gone this far, you might as well use KVH to get Miller and give us the best chance possible to go all the way!

Wait there might be more. There's a rumor that there will be a second deal: Antoine Wright going to Dallas, NJ receiving a 2nd round pick. If true, this is being done separately because it allows Dallas to use a trade exception that can't be combined in the bigger deal.

Kidd traded to Dallas in latest blockbuster deal
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
February 13, 2008
Less than 48 hours ago, Jason Kidd was privately telling people he feared he wouldn't get out of New Jersey before the trade deadline next week. Yet just when he was losing hope, the Nets agreed in principle to deliver the All-Star point guard to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon, a source close to the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports.
Kidd and Malik Allen will go to Dallas for 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George, Maurice Ager, $3 million and two future No. 1 draft picks. In a side deal, the Nets sent guard Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second-round pick.

Did he teach JJB? The guy was as polished as he is now when he got here. The guy was playing international ball since he was like 16.
Anyway, I think the interesting thing is that many of the same people that were agreeing that this team deserved a fork, are crying now. If anything the optimists who thought we had a chance with Harris should be the only ones really crying.
I cant tell you how sad I am to see Diop and Harris gone-- this team was so ma and pa for a while, but there isn't any point in crying. Besides the negativity and pessimism about this teams chances was starting to develop inside me no matter how much I tried to stay optimistic. Maybe we needed a move and maybe this move will help us.
All I know is that we lost all chemistry there for a while and players weren't even trying. We kept Dirk and Howard. We still have sharpshooters in Terry and Dirk. We still have Howard to slash. We still have Damp who can really play inside with a good pass in to him. We still have Bass who is a power player like Kenyon Martin.
