2019-2020 NBA Season Thread
Can start it off with this slightly hilarious nugget...
"Grizzlies and Josh Jackson have agreed for him not to join the team in training camp and to start the season off in the G League" -Shams

Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards have agreed to a two-year, $72 million max contract extension, his agent told Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wow, DSJ with 10 minutes off the bench tonight. I really do think the Knicks want to play PFs at all five positions.

They must not think too much of him already. They signed Payton. They started Trier.

Knicks PG situation is wild. DSJ and Frank went from this season's hopefuls to close to DNP on the first night. Knicks Twitter is fun right now.

Wish Dallas could, because Ntilikina would be very good/great as designated defender; but there are a couple of factors going against it.
1) As holders of future Mavericks draft pics, NYKs won't want to improve DAL.
2) MAVS have no assets of trade appeal to NYKs. NYKs roster is a shambolous hodgepodge of young potential and high-priced mid-tier journeymen; nothing Dallas could offer would improve them, or even fit. If only there were a way to make NYK take Lee/Hardaway back.
Mills and Perry should be facing the unemployment line, if not a firing squad.
I do hope Ntilikina can get out of NYC. Fizdale is an idiot without a clue about how to manage a roster, let alone strategize. He's an overhyped developmental coach neck-deep in sewage, in a situation he doesn't understand. Marc Gasol was totally right about Fizdale in Memphis--he is not head coaching material, and is incapable of leading a roster to contention.

If Frank can’t even get min I’m not sure NYK would worry about him improving Dallas since they clearly don’t think highly enough of him to give him minutes, but as you said Dallas has no assets they could want unless we somehow swing a 3 way trade. I’m not even sure Dallas has interest in him though especially with Wright on the roster.

Ntilikina is more than good enough to "get min".
His development has suffered by:
1) never playing in the system for which he was drafted (triangle), or while the man who drafted him (Phil Jackson) was in charge of the team
2) playing for a coach (Hornacek) who was fighting for his career, and loathe to develop rookies, despite KP's lobbying Hornacek for more time for Ntilikina
3) playing for a "coach" (Fizdale) who was under strict orders to tank, and did so by running every G-leaguer he could through MSG on a 1-year contract
4) playing on a team that traded a generational talent (Porzingis) for a 5th-rate point guard prospect (Smith), and felt pressure to justify the trade by giving Smith burn at PG
5) recurring injuries (groin)
He arrived to the NBA, landing in NYC as a 19-year old kid, not speaking the language. Still and all, he has shown elite defensive skills when he's gotten on the court, and was dominant this past summer in FIBA against a player (Walker) who was considered a top NBA free agent.
NYKs recently picked up the option on his 4th year, and look to be trying to salvage some value on a former Top 10 draft pick. A fair number of reports that Detroit has interest. He has an NBA-ready 3 that he only needs to be encouraged to shoot, and he would easily defend the 1s, 2s, and 3s that will scorch the Mavs' current cast of weak defenders. He's also 22, and on the verge of taking off; now is the time to get him cheap, rather than overpaying for some overhyped free agent (like a Kemba Walker?) . I wish that Dallas could take advantage of the NYKs' stupidity and ineptitude, but I don't see a way.

I just found out that it was actually Barrett that started at the PG last night. Forced his way out of Dallas because they didn’t think he was a PG, and the Knicks have apparently decided the same thing.

Mavs decided he wasn’t good enough to play PG
Knicks decided he wasn’t good enough to play in the NBA

Tyson with ten points in 11 minutes off the bench for Houston. Big boy still gets it done, albeit in limited time. Matthews still Matthews, now starting for the Bucks. Only hit 2-8 from three, but the big one late (of course).
Clippers are deep, but Golden State pretty much played without interior defense. What a blowout.

Trae Young has been insane so far. Would have really sucked if the Mavs had drafted Bamba or Carter over him.

@damanr: Harden shooting 29% from field, 15% from 3, but has taken 48 free throws in 3 games to save his ass and the calls are gonna stop in the playoffs again and Rockets will be emailing Adam Silver NBA_Rigged_V4.xlsx praying something will changed

The bigger issue is how many minutes the starters are playing again. Shocks me that D'Antoni doesn't learn a thing about NBA coaching. But hey, run them into the ground for our entertainment.

I'm confused though. Doesn't this up Durant's value on those teams?

Wow, Curry might have a broken hand. Gotta see a legit source first.
Confirmed.

Might knock them out of the playoff race early for a team that was on the fringe to begin with. Can’t wait to see how mediocre a player Draymond is when he’s not surrounded by the best shooting backcourt ever.

@tankathon: Warriors fans, there is a website you probably haven't heard of but may be entering your lives right now.

LMAO at Embiid calling KAT a pussy on twitter. There is nothing less tough than trashing someone on twitter.
But hey, free speech...right?

Embiid must be incredible insecure...he is for sure the new Shaq.
He is also an incredible dirty player. One time Dinwiddie took him dancing and when he was going to go for the layup Embiid grabbed him around his neck and threw him down...

Embiid is arleady the biggest a$$hole in the NBA. Waiting to see him get taken out by a genuine tough guy, but I'd settle for a cheap shot from Draymond Green.
Sometimes you just don't want to see bones heal.
