Man, I was hoping that would free up some tertiary playmakers/ballhandlers. But it looks like McGee's opening could be beneficial if we need him as part of a trade.

Other than having a career worse year in 3 point shooting (32%) Brunson's been solid so far. 20 ppg on 46% FG%, 88.3% from the FT line (career high, we could have used that), 6.3 assists (career high). You might think his minutes are higher than last year but actually they're practically identical last year as a Mav 31.9 minutes per game this year so far 31.7 minutes per game.
To me if we had him still and had added Wood we would be contenders (if it would be have been possible to accomplish) Oh well.

Yea, he's been pretty good for them as we knew he would be. TBD on leading to playoffs and showing up there. Not to knock him, I'm rooting for that.
I think the FO underestimated the Knicks ability to maneuver and create space for Brunson and thought they would have Wood and Brunson. Smacked in the face and have been stumbling since to put it lightly. They're going to have to be pretty crafty to improve via trade at this point.

One thing that was apparent is that our other two creators in Dinwiddie and Wood are great at penetrating and getting their shots up (both struggled against Allen/Mobley). But neither are particularly good at passing back out. We know THJ isn't a break the defense down type either.
I feel what lacks when Luka goes out is someone who can get inside and have the ability to find the open guy outside. I feel like Green shows glimpses of this, but he's not enough. But the problem is every single team is in need of those.
The latest rumors have brought up Westbrook, Beverley, Rose, etc. -- I believe each would improve the team in that respect pending what it takes to acquire. I think a trade could also open up more time or expand roles of Green, Wood, Hardy, and maybe even Dorsey.

Oof, a foot injury to boot.
Think they hold course given their recent success or do they become sellers?

Hawks should get quite a bit for him from some sucker team who thinks Trae can lead them to anything. Kind of jealous of the Hawks tbh they can build around the better all-around player in Dejounte Murray.

Haven?t been paying super close attention, but why does Trae want out? Because of his beef with the coach? I?d assume ATL would just dump the coach and keep their 2nd star happy.

Welp, so much for Turner. I never really bought into his availability.

This is why you keep Wood at all costs. Talented big men don't grow on trees.

Lakers have been on a weirdly extended run of bad calls/luck with the refs.

Chandler Parsons admits he lied to the Grizzlies about his health because it was the difference between 95 million and a minimum contract. I think we all knew this but sort of shocking to hear him admit it.

Did you listen? He said and I quote "Oscar performance listen guys I've never been more sure in my life" everyones laughing, he admitted it. Two things can be true, he can lie and they can screw up by not giving him a physical.

I took that as he put on an act to the Grizzlies FO that he only wanted to play for them. He did such a good job that they bought it and offered him the deal. The acting wasn?t him trying to hide his injuries. The acting was him lying that he only wanted to play for Memphis.

I know Denver usually comes up small in the playoffs but they look legit right now. When's the last time we've had all 5 of our starters score like this?
Blew GS off the court, leading the West by 4 games.

According to a report from The Athletic, members of the Indiana Pacers traveling party were aggressively confronted by acquaintances of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant following their game on January 29th. Two members of the Pacers party said a red laser was shined on them and they believed it was attached to a gun. The NBA conducted an investigation and confirmed there was some form of a confrontation but no evidence of a weapon being used was found. One of Ja Morant?s friends was banned from the Grizzlies arena after the league-led probe.

It's quiet, too quiet...
There are too many teams that obviously need to make a move to bolster their chances this year and moving forward. I think you have to include both LA teams with lots of rumors around Celtics and Heat. Do Cavs make a move to accompany their great start? Memphis might be moved by their recent stretch of dog shit play and laser shows. Suns will move Crowder and possibly make another move and I can't count out the Warriors.
Then the bevy of sellers for this deadline. We've got a lot of teams with assets expiring or not in future plans that could help contenders now. I'm thinking we see quite a bit of activity for this year's trade deadline.

That Ja stuff is wild. I realize it's hard to cut bait with friends, but it should be a little easier on Ja's level. Family and life altering financial and personal success should come wayyyyy before friends.

Totally agree. There is nothing noble about keeping destructive friends from the past once you are financially and professionally successful. If your old friends are bringing you down or keeping you down get rid of them.

He wants to be a thug and a rich basketball player but that will never work.
AFAIK Allen Iverson didn't ever do anything criminal but they said he hooked a bunch of his friends up with tons of money all the time and he ended up so broke in divorce court he said he couldn't afford a cheeseburger.

So the Suns got their owner to sell the team due to some racial comments, and the first thing the new owner is going to do is bring someone in that sexually harassed women in NY? LMAO

I got the imporession is was more of who he was hanging with and why cling on to bad influences. By an admittedly very quick search, it seems the guy goes back to HS ball with Ja and might just be a childhood friend. I have no clue nor care if the friend was raised different, the fact of the matter is you have to be careful with who you surround yourself with and if it's that bad of a negative influence then you cut bait.

Didn't we stop the game briefly for Dirk's 30k? I mean, if Dirk was breaking the all-time scoring record, I'd expect some sort of coronation. I think it was just awkward timing with 11 seconds still on the clock, but no problem with how they did it.

This felt way different. Game stopped for like 15mins- Stuff was presented, speeches were made... and time was still on the clock. Glad they lost the game.

They didn?t stop the game for Dirk hitting 30k, because if I remember correctly he came down on the next possession and hit a 3. The other team then called timeout.
Regardless I think it was pretty shitty to stop the game for speeches, photos, and celebrations. There was 10 seconds left on the clock. I?m glad they lost.
