Seriously. Blazers make him a half billion dollars and halfway through this, he not only wants out-- he wants to torpedo their return to go to the team of his choice?
The good news is that if they trade him to Utah (best offer) and he decides not to show up, then they don't pay him until he actually does. If he doesn't show up this year, he loses 46mill. No work, no pay.

I'm fine with Lillard wanting to go to a winner, but Miami or nothing looks really, really bad.
Everyone just wants to party on South Beach. Reeks of having nothing to do with winning.

Funny how Dame once tweeted ?running from the grind?, yet here is demanding a trade to the team that was in the Finals last season. I really hope Portland sends him anywhere but Miami.

Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania
BREAKING: Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the franchise, per sources. This is the richest deal in NBA history, negotiated by agent Jason Glushon.
Fully guaranteed, with a trade kicker. No player option.

Wow. Lot of money for a guy that?s not a top 10 player. I?ll never understand why these athletes make as much money as they do. Pure insanity.

scary - hope he's ok.
wonder if it's hypertrophic cardiomyopathy like Hank Gathers...
At this point also wonder if they shouldn't just do heart ultrasound on all collegiate/professional athletes just to try to try to lower the chance of missing something like that

Don't sign an extension if you want to leave. If I'm Portland, I don't trade him at all. If he doesn't show up to play, then he won't get paid. Pretty simple.

I get what you?re saying, but that doesn?t help them as an organization either. I say call his bluff and trade him to the team with the best offer. He shouldn?t get his cake with a super max and get to eat it in the city of his choosing. Dame, you want to be in Miami? Should have signed there as a free agent.

Dame all but tanked his trade value saying he'll only play for Miami. That destroys your bargaining position. It is far worse to trade him for a crappy package than not to trade him at all.

Per the New York Post's Andrew Marchand, the network has laid off longtime analyst Mark Jackson and is planning to promote analyst Doris Burke to call games alongside lead play-by-play man Mike Breen. It's also expected to hire Doc Rivers to complete the three-person team that anchors the network's NBA Finals coverage.
Doc Rivers? Really? Going to be watching those games on mute.

Sixers have ended trade talks with Harden. That crosses Zubac off the list.

Harden calling Morey a liar and stating he (Harden) will never be part of an organization that he (Morey) is part of - suggests Harden is escalating the situation to make his staying in Philly untenable. It will be interesting to see if it works. Does Morey really want this distraction? Embiid may ask for a trade if this is a lost year due to the conflict. I am thinking that a trade to the Clippers is about 50/50 depending on Morey's next move. Does he engage Harden publicly? Does he just ignore Harden? I see this as a lose/lose situation for Morey.

Exactly.
I still think Harden ends up in LA, but just like with Beal, Philly isn't going to get a good return. Harden's paid a lot. If he's not happy he throws a tantrum and torpedoes the franchise. Acccording to reports, only the Clippers are even interested and are thus only competing with themselves.
Morey can pretend that he's not trading Harden, but that storm cloud is just going to get larger. I doubt Harden refuses to play completely (thus losing his 36mill), but even one unhappy guy in the locker room ruins the entire chemistry.
And after all that distraction, I doubt Morey even ends up with a sweeter deal for Harden. The longer it drags out, the more damage is done to chemistry/standings and the closer Harden is to becoming an UFA. His value goes down rather than up.

I think the Sixers have to fire Morey first and absolutely should. He and Musai are the worst GMs in the league IMO. They never act in good faith and have only one job to try and fleece other teams.
It's funny because we all hate Harden, but he is absolutely right and justified in this situation.

Oh man this Philly situation. I want them all to lose.
Get Morey fired, make Philly trade Embiid, give Harden a contract in China

Harden fined 100k. Is really against CBA rules to call out your own GM?

Indefinitely is a weird timeline for a meniscus tear. I'm wondering if they went in and decided to repair instead of cutting it out which is typically only a 3-to-4-week absence. (edit: repairing it can take months to come back from but can be preferable)

Devin Vassell got a 5/146. That's pretty nuts.
I still remember some of the push back I got when I said Brunson was easily worth 30 mil a year. Salaries going up and up.

Doesn't mean he's worth it lol it is nuts
Brunson didn't even get $30mm though so I'm not sure what the point is other than the known fact that the cap goes up every year

The point is that Brunson was worth 30 million a year no matter what his current contract is.

Sure, but why did no one pay it? Were there limitations at the time? Genuine question, I'm not entirely sure.

There wasn't a ton of cap space last summer, and the Knicks went to lengths to get even the space they had to offer (the team he wanted). I know nobody really knows for certain, but I'm willing to bet Cuban pays it if given the chance. Especially if he just gave Irving 40 mil. I think Irving is a better player, but Brunson is certainly worth 30. Hell, Fred Van Vleet got 40.

Just to be clear, I agree on Brunson's worth.
I do not believe Vassell is worth that but I could be proven entirely wrong.

Agreed 100%, but the Spurs are a small market rebuilding situation. He'll need to average 25 ppg to make that contract worth it.

This is all on Morey. He palled up with Harden, promised he would extend him, then reneged. And he knew damn well who Harden was.
Harden is and will always do Harden. But Morey knew better...
How many stars are going to be ruined by that sad franchise?
