Pacers are trying to trade Hield with extension talks stalled.
Please take THJ.

Legion saying he wants out and Dallas is 1st or 2nd on list.
Guys who are pure shooters like Hield and THJ aren't getting the big bucks anymore and this team has too many one-way guys (THJ, Curry, etc.) so I'm not sure we'd be that interested. I really welcome the move to get two-way guys (developing Green, Exum, Williams, Lively, OMax)
THJ for Hield would work without an extension. I wouldn't add much to that. It's a pretty lateral move and as much as I've complained about THJ for his defense and role, Hield could be a worse defender and THJ is decent as a sparkplug and positive veteran leader. The problem with him was really that he could never be a second scorer on a good team and is not a creator.
Holmes and a young player (Hardy/Green/Lively/OMax)? I'd say no in a second. Not sure if there are any other trades that work.
Maybe an extend-and-trade? I think there are limitations on trades post-extension, so not sure that could even work.

Good lord, are we really going to be doing big time trades right at training camp now? NBA is so bizarre.
Crap rumor says we had an underwhelming offer for Ayton. Yeah, cause Ayton isn't very good and that source is crap.

Yeah guys are in town already. photos are Tuesday and camp is Wednesday? Then we?re flying to Abu Dhabi?
We desperately need a center other than Powell/Holmes but this is the 11th hour? at least for teams like us that start camp early.

Main thing I'd say is that the FO hasn't said that this is the team they want going into regular season. Basically every source has said they are trying to upgrade center. And with the Hield news...maybe more.
So don't be surprised if something does happen since no other source says otherwise unless I missed something.

For anyone that followed the twitter account droppingdimes during free agency summer, he just tweeted
"Dallas Mavericks and Raptors are very active"
fyi he was right on most signings before they happened

Training camps don't start for most teams until October 3rd. I keep forgetting that. Other teams still have two weeks left to negotiate and many are going to push trade negotiations all the way into camp. It just sucks that we start so much earlier than everyone else because we essentially lose camp/preseason if we make a major trade late. We need the trade, but won't have the time together that other teams will have.

Does anyone know anything about the secret rumor that people are talking about on Twitter? Trigg mentioned it. Someone followed by Mavs writers mentioned Hardy. I couldn?t find anything.

He's been chatting about Dame to Toronto with a potential Mavs connection as a third/fourth team. Is it something else?

That would blend in with what the fake insider says, but I really don't see those people as reliable.
However, I think there is a Woj source that says Miami isn't involved, so Dame to Toronto has some legit smoke to it.

Kidd going to "explore starting" Lively. Some thoughts
1) Hell yeah. We're not going to be good without a defensive anchor. Coach the shit out of him and let him grow.
2) Does this mean we aren't optimistic about the trade market?

We should keep in mind that Javale McGee was slated to start last season. This is a make or break year for Kidd on whether he can develop a big man or not.
We should absolutely start Lively and OMax because talent matters more than all else.

At least for camp:
Lively
OMax
Williams
Kyrie
Luka
Could be overstated that he?ll start Lively and could just be to jump start their confidence/development in games that don?t matter. It still gives them an opportunity to prove that they should get min

Same recipe. Easy to justify benching Lively for DP after 5 games because shocker, he looks inexperienced.

That's almost guaranteed to happen, and then Lively spends through December in the G League.
I hope I'm wrong, but look what happened with Hardy. I really feel that stunted his growth as a player.
Hopefully Kidd realizes that we can't afford to play less talented players over the more talented ones no matter their experience or age.

They don't want THJ
Which means both him and Powell will somehow find their way into the starting lineup once again this year

I think they'd take THJ. They just want THJ AND a FRP.
With how lateral that move is, I would not give them a first for Hield. Trading one thirty-something off-guard who can shoot but play no defense for another.

There is no way in hell you give up a first for Hield especially if you wouldn't for Capela.
Mavs have shopped THJ to death and there are no takers. Feel that's never going to happen.

THJ is a strange one. He is still a solid contributor. THJ will become more tradable once he gets closer to having an expiring deal. Next year?
If the Mavs could get Hield though that would be great. He is more of a knockdown clutch shooter while THJ hits cold stretches where hisshooting just kills the Mavs. I just don't know how the Mavs could pull this off. I certainly don't give up a first to get it done. Hield could walk but I could see why Pacers would want the pick for taking on 2 years of THJ.
I might turn my attention to Brogdan. How bout THJ to charlotte, rozier to Boston and Brogdon to dallas. Works on Trade Machine. THJ can give plenty of minutes at SG for Charlotte until Nick smith Jr gets experience and it saves them over 30 mil over next 3 years.

Mavs will check in tomorrow
Will begin practicing on Wednesday.
I am so hyped for this team, but my concerns are still holding me back. We desperately still need rebounding and defense. We traded one-way guys (offense: Wood, Bertans and defense: Frank, Javale, Holiday) for two-way guys (Exum, Williams, OMax, etc.) but we're still going to be 30th in rebounding, and without an anchor in the middle, we will struggle. Guys can funnel to the middle, but we will need a guy in the middle to help.

There is no way I'd give up anything more than THJ for Heild. Signing Curry was bad enough.
We have too many guards as it is that cant play a lick of D so I can't believe the idea is even being entertained.
Hardy is probably the odd man out in the rotation if we dont make anymore moves and that would be a damn shame considering how well he looked at the end of last season.

Holy crap, we discussed Capela and Hawks wanted Green and 10th pick so it would have cost us Green, Lively, OMax, and Holmes.
I like Capela as a stopgap for Lively, but even just Capela for Lively seems like a bad deal to me.

What is the source on that? Haven't found anything legit.
Only thing someone brought up lately was a stupid Bleacher Report idea with no legs whatsoever.

Stein on his podcast mentioned it as what he heard Hawks wanted. Obviously Mavs refused but it does tend to show how Hawks value him.

Good god, glad we didn't do that crap. But good centers are rare, and I understand their high value. I'm probably asking for the same if I'm the Hawks. Don't really see why they'd want to trade Capela anyway even with Okongwu rising up.
Rather just play Lively provided coach sticks to that.
We'll see if Capela loses another step too. Then maybe get him cheaper at the deadline.

Camp starts tomorrow
Lively, OMax, Williams, and THJ already bonding
Williams and Luka seem to be getting along well.
I can't wait for some Mavs news.

that is a huge question mark, honestly wanted to see what hes got this first half of the year, if not trade him at the deadline. (unless his extension can be had for cheap)

Totally depends on the money. And the coach.
I'd obviously like him here. He works hard. Does everything we want. Elite potential as a defender. Has proven he can hit the three for the 3/D trifecta and even has shown he can make plays for others and provide more offense.
On the other hand, Kidd mentioned that the starters were Kyrie, Luka, and Williams (with OMax and Lively in preseason). The fact that Kidd still doesn't see him as a consistent starter is a disgrace.
If we can't give him a consistent role, then we really do need to trade him.
