Default Turco and sophomore slide?

Is Turco a victim of the sophomore jinx? He's not putting out numbers like last year. This just pisses me off since he made such a stink during contract negotiations. Is it him or the defenders in front of him? He seems to be allowing a lot of goals lately?

Default RE:Turco and sophomore slide?

He started out slow, but he's had a good solid last few games. When we haven't won, it's mostly been b/c of the lack of offense. He was brilliant in the home & home w/Nashville. I think the D's been pretty solid except for Zubov's bizarre TO-marathon. Boucher has been awesome.

The guy who's really been sucking it up is Modano. He says he's had some financial problems lately (the rumor is he lost something like $10mil) & it's been affecting his game. Also, you have to think maybe Lehtinen's injury has something to do w/it.

The MAG line (Morrow-Arnott-Guerin) continues to dominate. They are the only reason we still have a winning record.

I hope Turco is just starting slow and is not choking on his new contract. This phenomenon usually hits players in other sports as well who finally sign the big contract and then tank during that year.

He has had a rough start, but when he has played bad it hasn't seemed to change the course of the game. Turco was horrible against Detroit but Stars couldn't put one in and we lost 4-0. last night he played bad but they lost 3-0. If we don't score, the best thing Turco can do is shut out a team for a tie.

There were articles in DMN & FWST about it. He said he made a few "bad investments" & thought for a while there was something else (i.e. embezzlement, possibly by his manager--the same one who put his ring on ebay, btw) going on, but he cleared it up. This was like 2 games ago when he came out & said this to the press, said he was putting it behind him & trying to turn it around on the ice. He scored in the Nashville game at home, but was a -3 for the NY game.

Here, I found the article. DMN.
