Should that woman be forced to relive that horrific, life-altering experience every day for nine months – and possibly beyond? Hasn't she been punished enough?

If you had ever known a woman who was raped and became pregnant, as I have, then you would know that forcing her to carry that baby to term is nothing more than cruel and unusual punishment for someone who has already been brutally violated in a way you could never understand.

That's another site that sort of explains what the pill, morning after pill, and RU-486 are. It still looks like the pill and morning after are basically the same things. One's just taken the morning after if nothing was used during sex. I'm still just fuzzy on what the difference is politically though. I've heard alot of uproar against abortion and the morning after pill as being murder. But the morning after pill appears the same as "the pill". What exactly is the distinction in the mind of the pro-lifers.

I don't quite understand what you don't understand. It's obvious that if you believe that life begins AT conception (i.e. the joining of sperm and egg ) then that is a human life that is basically being aborted. There really is very little difference how it gets done.

So if a women takes the birth control pill daily at 11AM but has sex with her boyfriend at 10:45AM, and then takes the pill, then she's killing an unborn child and should be charged wiht murder. Where as if she had waited till 11:15AM to have sex, she would be a perfectly normal and acceptable woman.

Technically yes. But unenforceable and irrelevant as in my opinion murder would require intent as well.

You might make a case for accidental homicide or something but not murder. Probably not even that as a "normal" person wouldn't think this way. But I'm not a lawyer.

Wouldn't the point of all contraceptives then be to "prevent a person from living" and their would clearly be "premeditated intent". Thus sexual intercourse with any person in which contraceptives of any sort are used is murder.

Preventing a person from being created is not the same as killing them once they had. At least from my moral compass.

Is it nothing more than cruel and unusual punishment? From your friends specific case, maybe that was true; however, there are more beliefs, examples, and studies done that show your belief to be the minority. One example would be found here!

And a quick summary paragraph for those of you that dont want to read the article in full would be:

That's not real compassion, much as we might like to believe otherwise. As Reardon says, "abortion is not some magical surgery which turns back time to make a woman 'un-pregnant' " — or, for that matter, "un-raped." When tragedy happens, real compassion means being there for both her and her child, every step of the way. Tragedy can't be repealed, but it can be dealt with. And indeed, as so many women have found from personal experience, good can come from evil.

What about sexual abstinence? What about failing to produce chiildren? Is that bad?

What about Bioy Casares' imperfect memory of the pronoucement of one of the heresiarchs of Uqbar, which Bioy Casares recalled (incorrectly) as:

"Copulation and mirrors are abominable because they increase the number of men." (cf J.L.Borges' Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius)

As a member of the far left, I must say that abortion is underrated and life is overrated unless it's someone's life that has murdered and raped.
