All praise the amazing turnaround!!!!
I posted in another thread that the Dems were in a great position to tank the economy and blame "the administration."
How stupid that thought was.
All they need to do is allow their "free press" minions to educate the world on how well the economy is now doing ( Trade Deficit Narrows) and how well we are now doing in Iraq ( Afghans express confidence in country's direction, security)
What incredible progress for their first day in power!!!
After a couple of years of this, we can all look back and see how the headlines changed after the dems took congress. Imagine how pleasant it will be to read the news once they have the presidency.

what? you complain that there's too much negative news in the "mainstream media", and today following the republican's short walk to the woodhouse for a buttwhipping you pull out articles that are not negative and whine that they are too positive?
explain if you would how the trade deficit article is any different than the budget deficit articles that dude is so diligent about posting? they aren't...

you mean the ones with headlines like "This Time, it's Not the Economy" or with headlines that include things like "slight increase" or "estimated"?
Relax, maddog. I just thought it funny that the day after the election there are two headlines that claim good news for what are interpretable stories. And seeing those made me realize that we probably will see a shift in these kinds of headlines. Dude will probably find a lot more of those stories in the next few months. And a higher percentage will come from Reuters/AP/USAToday/NYtimes, etc relative to NationalReview.

imho the irony is whoever is in power will face some difficult policy decisions. either reduce spending or raise taxes.
that's assuming they can fix the medicare prescription cost increases. if they can't do that, raising taxes will be a certainty.
this spending binge will need to be repaid. the republicans may very well be happy to watch the dems take the heat.
bush has two budget submittals left. let's see if he becomes the fiscally responsible pres on those and attempt to portray the new congressional leadership as the spendthrifts.
the irony would be incredible, but the public would probably buy it.

True since the dems have been doing much of nothing for 6 years.

If he does submit fiscally responsible budgets and the dems won't go along, won't he be the fiscally responsible one? There will be irony that they are hoisted on the thing they've been wrangling about but never really cared for in their history.
We just have to see how much rhetoric the dems have been throwing out there, a lot imo.

it would be a good thing if he did submit a responsible budget. don't hold your breath..yet to allow that act to in of itself put the positive twist on what is in reality a president who couldn't bring himself to say no, while apparently believing that as long as congress gives him the money it's ok to go in debt and spend it.
"never.. cared for in their history"?? you forget the only pres in the last few decades to balance the budget was a democrat

And you and I both know how he did it. I appreciate the scoreboard reference and it's apt, but no-one has ever cut spending without doing something like reducing defense.

Because any time you so much as reduce spending increases for anything else, people cry like babies who got a lollipop taken away.

This is more along the lines of the point I was trying to make with Post1. Now that the Dems are leading the decision making process, the world will be portrayed as such a happy place. I don't think it matters what they decide to do: spend less / raise taxes (uh, which do you think they'll do); cutnrn / finish the job; impeach or don't impeach. Whatever they decide to do will get rosy headlines, and that will factor into polls on what people think of the general direction of our country (and stuff like that).
