Problem is that there really is no clear franchise number #1 player at 9 in this draft. Frank and Isaac have the most upside, but they wouldn't be ready to "take over" in a few years anyway.

In fact, that's what people need to realize. All of the lottery picks are 19 years old. Even the college guys might be a few years away. There is a lot of talent, but that doesn't mean you're getting a star next season.
Aggressive as in using assets to move up in the draft if necessary to get "our guy". This is the deepest draft in a decade. I believe we are looking at 4+ All nba 1st teamers here. Yes its a risk in any draft. This is THE draft to bet on. And you are right... none of these kids are the answer for next year or the next. This is about finding our next cornerstone. Not about finding a Barnes, Parsons, etc.

And what assets do we have to move up in the draft? What would your plan be to do that?

Yeah, the #9 pick alone isn't much, and future firsts aren't guaranteed to yield a decent return if we get Fultz... We don't have Noel under contract to package, Wes is a negative asset in this scenario, Seth/Yogi/Devin/Barea don't add enough value, and including Barnes in the deal would be overpaying on our end.

Not many options to move up more than maybe a couple spots, which doesn't really do anything for us since the few teams ahead of us are probably gunning for the same players that we are.

Couple spots is more than enough for a DSJ or Monk imo.

That's the thing though, anyone a couple spots ahead of us probably wants those guys too... The ONLY possibility I can see is if Minny is dead-set on Markkanen, then maybe they take a future pick from us so we can leapfrog NYK. But that's about it.

Even if you could do that, what you'd be giving up probably wouldn't be worth it at that point. Would you give up Curry and a future protected 1st for Monk who is very similar to Curry? I might do it for DSJ, but the chances of a team wanting to give him up to us are slim to 0.

Like you said, there are potential all NBA first teamers here. Draft picks are arguably the most valuable commodity outside of having a superstar under contract.
