IF we beat the Suns & Spurs in 2005, then that would have been our best chance???
We DID beat the Suns & Spurs in 2006 and went onto the Finals (but somehow that wasn't our best chance in your mind?)
Sorry, but you sound like a Nash/Nellie-nut-hugging idiot...

If we beat the Suns that year, we beat the Spurs in the WCF. None of this crap about "waah, waah, we ran into a hot team." No, none of that. If we beat the Suns we play the Spurs, and if we beat the Spurs we walk to the Finals.
For a team that was hungry for it since 2001, that was our year.
It is a sad thing that Nellie quit on us, for if he hadn't, we would surely have won the NBA title that year.
But we carry on. We showed our ass the last couple years, but I think this year we have a chance.

Eh. Where are you going? I thought we were comparing 2005 to 2006. In 2006, the Suns didn't have Amare. In 2005, they did and it was the original pre-micro Amare. I don't see how having Amare in 2005 makes the Suns more beatable.
Also beating the Suns is no recipe for beating the Spurs. In 2005, even if we were able to beat the Suns, the Spurs would've been a tougher opponent. They traditionally have been the better team of the two, four rocks and all.
As for Nellie being a sure-fire thing, Nellie's never beaten the Spurs in the playoffs as a Mavericks coach. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I see MBenga getting minutes. The only legit center they have is Biedrins and though Nellie likes smallball I see MBenga flourishly in this style of play.

The run and gun is perfect for a shotblocker like DJ. DJ has difficulty learning defensive schemes plus he can't rebound to save his life.
He's a prefect fit for the Warriors.

He has difficulty learning defensive schemes?
Like, they had to bring a specialist to teach him? With blocks or something as opposed to men?

I don't see Nellie turning a lot to a center who is an offensive liability. If Mbenga is on the court, then the opposing defense can use the center to double on someone. The opposing defense can largely ignore Mbenga.
I don't see Mbenga playing for Nellie unless he improves a lot as a project. The other possibility is bringing in Mbenga at the end of games when a time out is called after each possession in tight games. Mbenga comes in for defense against a big in the paint and sits for offense.
Mbenga would be perfect for the Hack a Shaq type strats.

Biedrins is a classic center for Nellie and reminds me of a shorter Sean Bradley. Biedrin is not an offensive liability. He rebounds ok.
The only time I recall Nellie using a Mbenga type center is if he wanted to foul someone like Shaq.

Didn't you all read about Dirk saying that Benga spent more time practicing his three pointers and half-court shots than he did his inside game.
Nellie will Love to line Benga up outside to shoot threes.
Anyone who would focus an offense around Anthony Mason instead of Patrick Ewing has the perfect mindset to love a half court shooting Benga.

Biedrins is more than an ok rebounder. He's averaging just over a 11 a game right now. Most impressively is that he's shooting 70% from the ft line. Talk about an improvement though it's still early in the season.
Davis and Jackson are good at passing to cutters when double-teamed so if MBenga could get some easy points that way he wouldn't be too bad offensively. Or focus solely on clean up baskets.
Not saying he's going to be a force or have the Mavs wishing he was back but he could play effectively in this system.

Crap. Good for Benga because I really like the guy. I just wish it was anyone but the Warriors because that makes it tremendously difficult to root for him.

He's played about 5 minutes so far in the 2nd quarter. Hasn't had a chance to do anything and looks a little lost in the set plays but that's to be expected for his first game and no practice with the team.

If Ginobilli wouldn't have committed that foul towards Dirk i'm not sure if that 3 by Finley two post seasons ago wouldn't have been a dagger.

Yeah, and if the officials hadn't f**ked us in game 6, OR if Terry hadn't been suspended, that game never would've happened to begin with.
