I'd obviously like him here. He works hard. Does everything we want. Elite potential as a defender. Has proven he can hit the three for the 3/D trifecta and even has shown he can make plays for others and provide more offense.
On the other hand, Kidd mentioned that the starters were Kyrie, Luka, and Williams (with OMax and Lively in preseason). The fact that Kidd still doesn't see him as a consistent starter is a disgrace.
If we can't give him a consistent role, then we really do need to trade him.
|
Idk if he's a starter though, tbh. Everyone outside of Luka and Kyrie needs to be fighting for their spot. If we went based on doing the right things and work ethic he would definitely be a starter, but so would Powell.
If Omax is better, then he should get the nod over Green. They just need to figure all that out sooner than later.

The Blazers remain engaged elsewhere on deals and will are expected to immediately engage contending teams on trade talks to move on Jrue Holiday, sources tell ESPN. Portland is committed to its young group of talented guards.

Lillard goes Milwaukee as part of a 3-team deal with Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 unprotected MIL 1st, and unprotected MIL swap rights in 2028 and 2030 to Blazers. Phoenix lands Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson.

I mean, we'll see what Portland gets for Holiday, but that is so far a pretty terrible trade for them.

Mavs PGs (or guys who CAN play PG): Luka, Kyrie, Curry, Hardy, Green, Exum, camp/two way
He'd definitely be that consistent ball-handler we haven't had since Brunson. Maybe Kidd will never trust Hardy/Green with a consistent role and there's a good likelihood that Exum won't be a consistent guy. Maybe it would take Hardy/Green to get him.
It's definitely interesting.

Ayton is young and if Scoot becomes something, they have four solid rotation guys in Henderson/Grant/Thybulle/Ayton. They may not be playoff, but they can set some picks for Scoot and get him developed while playing some defense which wasn't going to happen with Nurk.
They get a FRP and if Bucks implode, those pick swaps could be good. PLus they can probably get a FRP and a couple of seconds or some good talent for Holiday
Now Suns? If they hated Ayton's defense, Nurk will absolutely kill them. Maybe they plan on scoring 160 a game and allowing 150.

Me too. I'd consider Hardy as well. The defense is needed and worth it.

I mean they have a lot of players. They made their starting five worse (Nurk. is the worst defensive big in the game) and added a couple of second/third-stringers.

That's a lot of drama or spite or something. Little and Allen will help them. Nurkic is a really good rebounder and nice offensive player who won't get upset about not getting shots and can pass the ball well. I doubt many teams will be attacking him in the paint. Switches to perimeter and injuries are his issue.
I'd not have given up on ayton but apparently there were chemistry issues with him and that team. There is not enough shots to go around for all of Booker, Beal, KD and Ayton. So for about half the price they get a vet servicable center. Plus they add some nice depth pieces. If it blows up in their face they deal KD, Beal and Booker to get back any youth lost in moving Ayton.

The guy who predicted the Mil/Dame trade a week ago said the Mavs and Sixers are interested in Holiday.

I bet $50 on going to Philly, but if we can pull that off, Nico needs GM of the year.

I don?t know what that trade would look like. Holiday is owed like $36m this season I believe. Hardaway, Holmes, Hardy plus picks?
