Because he has no discipline with his teams. He is the polar opposite in how Rick handles his squads. It's great to be a player-friendly coach until the playoffs come around.

He's like Phil Jackson when it comes to stroking egos

Except he doesn't know how to build discipline and he doesn't know how to make adjustments.

He's just friends with his team

And makes you feel better about Rick holding his players accountable. Sure, you get a Rondo situation here and there, but how Doc could let Paul George play the way he did is unacceptable. Rick would have put a fire under George's ass whether he liked it or not. That's what a coach is supposed to do.
