Do I say more? Thats just hard work and working on the weakness of the opponent. Hats of to the mavs team and Nellie's great strategy.

Just an incredible stat. Impressive that it was 49 consecutive too. I can forgive Eddie missing the first one. He was just getting warmed up. Not so silly that we have a coach for that now, is it?

To see both the volume of FT's and the incredible accuracy combined together into one game would be extremely rare. To see them both in a playoff game in the next century would totally boggle the mind.

what was amazing is that the Spurs shot 48 FT's themselves. It wasn't just one of those times the refs handed the game over. they gave both teams FT's, and Dallas capitalized.

I would say a good FT coach's stock is probably rising right about now. Of course, Shaq has had personal FT coaches in the past and they really didn't pan out too well. Who knows?

Like David Robinson said, the Spurs had alot of "stupid fouls."
Many of the mavs free throws came as a result of Spurs fouling in non- shooting situations.
Dirk got at least 4-6 (probably more) on fouls that were while trying to secure a board

Yeah but Doc Shaq has one of the poorest work ethics in the league. All the coaches and aids in the world won't help a player if they refuse to 1st help themselves.
Shaq is just a lazy lardass.

shaq has made himself into a decent FT shooter for a center.
he went from 55.5% last year to 62.2% this year..along with 62.1% from the line in the playoffs
perhaps the spurs need a FT shooting coach

shaq's not a respectable FT shooter. He has never made a LEGAL ft in his life. Stepping past the line is illegal

Shaq made himself into a respectable FT shooter for his past incompetence. He's still bad, even for a center.

sorry, had to edit the post...needed to add in the stats and change it from "ft shooter" to "ft shooting coach"
just spit it out wrong
shaq isn't as much a "respectable" free throw by today's standards at any position..i must correct myself. Why is he not a "respectable" FT shooter at the center position? because most centers in the NBA are PF's now..there's not really many true centers left out there.

Nobody in their right mind would call Shaq a good free throw shooter. that's just ignoarant.
Shaq used FT shooting coaches back in the Orlando days and early LA seasons. His shooting was incredibly pathetic. Don't even try to compare his poor shooting %'s now (which are a lot better) with that of when he utilized FT coaches. You are trying to twist the point of the thread as usual.

Murphy brought up the lardass when I asked if other teams would start to follow Mavs in getting FT shooting coaches and computers after tonight.

Practice does in fact make perfect. AJ in the postgame interview says they shoot 100 FTs a day in practice--& it's not uncommon for guys to make 95, 97, 98 of them. That's amazing.

Maybe Bruce Bowen should step back to the 3 point line when he's taking his free throws
