Sixers Grab Steven Hunter
Sixers Grab Steven Hunter
11th August, 2005 - 6:31 pm
RealGM - Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced today that the Sixers have agreed to terms with free agent center Steven Hunter. Hunter is expected to sign with Philadelphia on Friday, Aug. 12.
"We felt Steven was one of the top free-agent big men out there. He is an extremely important addition to our team," King said. "He is young, athletic and a natural shot-blocker. This move really strengthens our front court."
In four NBA seasons, the 23-year-old, 7-footer has averaged 3.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.10 blocks on 54.4 percent shooting from the field in 221 career games with two teams - Orlando (2001-04) and Phoenix (2004-05). Last season with the Suns, Hunter averaged 4.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in a career-high 76 games (3 starts) and appeared in all 15 playoff games off the bench, averaging 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.20 blocks per game. I'll second that. I'm guessing it'll be in the mid 3's for several years

Honestly, this doesn't disappoint me much, if at all. If nothing else, I'm happy he's gone from Phoenix if indeed he does have some untapped potential.
I still think Blount might find his way to the home locker room of the AAC.

He better have Paul Pierce with him because he's terrible.
I'm also glad he's out of PXH, but his is very dissappointing...I hope DJ's ready to play or we'll be seeing a lot of the Dirk/VH combo at the 4/5.

I think Blount would be fine here in a backup role.

Scratch Mutombo off the list too. He reupped with Houston for two years.
The only guy left is Dale Davis.

Phoenix doesn't have anyone behind Amare/KT as of right now, just like us Dirk/Damp..
unless you believe DJ is ready to contribute starter minutes of Damp goes down with an injury.....

Nice move by Philly...they keep Dalembert and now sign Hunter as well to bolster the front court.
Now all they need to do is ship Chris Webber's sorry-ass out of town along with T.O. and there set....

I'll second that. I'm guessing it'll be in the mid 3's for several years

Did I hear 5 years, 16.5 million?

RE: Sixers Grab Steven Hunter
Somehow Philly seems like a good home for a player like Steven Hunter. I hope Philly fans are happy with their extremely expensive, scrubby offseason haul of Willie Green, Kyle Korver, and the good Mr. Steven Hunter...

Daniels works straight up. I'm not sure if he's too expensive for Boston but he fits the youth movement.
Back to Philly. They did not sign Willie Green yet. He had the knee injury and surgery.

If MAry is right with the 5 years, 16 million, the top 10 worst freeagency moves needs to be revised. Hollinger, get ready.

I never understood the facination with Steven Hunter. He's a terrible, terrible ball player. I'm not disappointed that Philly signed him. In fact, I'm releived. I didn't want to watch that bum.
