Default Road woes

We're currently 9-2 at home. 3-6 away.

Why do you think we're having such issues playing ball away from home? Obviously we have a brand new team, but why such a huge differential between home and away? Will we see the two stats converge? If so, when?

Guys like Monta Ellis
FG% 51% home, 43% away
3p% 42% home, 30% away
AST 6.8 home, 4.4 away
TO 3.0 home, 4.3 away

Calderon
3pt 52% home, 43% away

Even Dirk is seeing it.

Dirk Nowitzki
FG% 52% home, 44% away
3pt 43% home, 38% away
REB 6 home, 5 away

Home vs. Away team
PPG - 106.7ppg/ 99.6ppg
FG% - 48.1 / 43.6%
RPG - 42.7 / 39.0
TOPG - 13.5 / 15.4
PFPG - 20.6/ 21.1

It's not terribly surprising that it's happening-- of the 15 teams I checked, every one had some differential between home and away, but Mavericks had the largest gap in FG% and PPG. I'm just interested in why it happens to all teams, and why it's so exaggerated with the Mavs this year early.

The question of rest
Is rest an ultimately unimportant stat, because of the rest players get in the playoffs? Is our dramatic differential in scoring efficiency a matter of older legs? Perhaps.

Some interesting stats:

PPG with 3+ days rest/ 2 days rest/1 days rest / 0days rest (B2B)
118ppg/ 105.3 / 102.8 / 101.3

FG% with 3+ days rest/ 2 days rest/1 days rest / 0days rest (B2B)
57.1% / 47.9% / 45.6% / 44.1%

3pt shooting with 3+ days rest/ 2 days rest/1 days rest / 0days rest (B2B)
45.8% / 42.2% / 37.6% / 36.3%

APG with 3+ days rest/ 2 days rest/1 days rest / 0days rest (B2B)
31.0 / 24.3/ 21.8 / 21.4

I think it is more with the bench than it is with those starters. Guys like Mekel/Crowder/Larkin play horribly away from the AAC so therefore the older vets have to try and "do more" than they normally would. And because they are trying to do more their FG% suffers.

That is a major way Harris and Wright should help the Mavs.

There have been studies that show testosterone levels are higher in players when they are playing at home. Something about genetics and territoriality.
