Indiana trades:
PF Al Harrington (12.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.1 minutes)
PF Austin Croshere (5.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)
Indiana receives:
PG Nick Van Exel (12.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 4.3 apg in 73 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.8 ppg, -6.5 rpg, and +1.7 apg.
Portland trades:
PG Damon Stoudamire (6.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.5 apg in 22.3 minutes)
SF Ruben Patterson (8.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 21.2 minutes)
Portland receives:
C Evan Eschmeyer (1.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 17 games)
SG Michael Finley (19.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.0 apg in 69 games)
Change in team outlook: +5.1 ppg, +1.5 rpg, and -1.4 apg.
Lets start off with why would Indiana do it? First off, they would save about 3 million alone by doing this as Croshere/Harrington are over 13 million combined and NVE only makes a tad over 10 million. Throw in the fact that they also get a stellar point guard in NVE and they got to offload Croshere's contract. They would lose Harrington in the deal, but I think they could live with it.
Why would Portand do it? Simple, they get rid of the Drug infested Damon Stoudemire, and the hot headed Patterson and to top it off they get a SG that was almost an allstar last year. Esch is a throw in.
Why would Dallas do it? They get defense in Patterson, a young PF stud in Harrington, a backup PG in Stoudemire that can light it up occastionally, and a big body in Croshere.
Sooooooooo How about this thought out trade?
