I like Sanders based on the few interviews ive read, but this really feels like a "I need money" case, ESPECIALLY with the new contracts. He's stated his life isnt basketball and he has many other hobbies/ventures etc. Basketball doesnt consume him. Who cares that he smokes weed.

As far as basketball, no way is he a consistent starter on a team this year. He could work to get there maybe some point next year but im not holding my breath

I highly doubt he is in a decent shape to make an impact straight away. But as for signing him, it would be nice to lock him up for minimum salary for this and next year. Or give him Curry's contract.

I see it going two ways, either he is in it for money or he has sorted his issues out and is ready to prove himself on basketball court. With Mavs having nothing to lose, why not take a chance. Heat did great with Whiteside, although even he has his issues.

I would be more than willing to cheer for the guy if the MBT does actually sign him. But, as everyone has already stated before, there are serious red flags on the guy. Most importantly IMO is that we need high character guys on this roster given that we are now forced into a youth movement. The last thing we need is someone that treats basketball as a side-job because they need the money. No. We need the Dirks and Mathews that show the young kids what it takes to truly compete at this level. Otherwise, you end up with a player like Cousins who has the physical abilities to become the best center ever yet doesn't have it between the ears or in his heart. When that player is your franchise player, it just permeates the attitude through the whole team.

“By the end of next week, we should have a reasonably good handle on where this is going," agent Joel Bell told Gery Woelfel of The Journal Times.

Bell added: "He’s been training for about six months now. Physically, he’s almost there. Mentally and spiritually, he is there. He doesn’t need to come back; he wants to come back to the NBA. Sometimes you don’t miss something until you don’t have it."

Rick generally doesn't do well with low IQ players that need motivation.

Don't think the fit is there.

@ChrisBHaynes: Cleveland's workout of Larry Sanders today is a solo setting centered on testing and evaluation physically, league sources tell ESPN.

What are the odds he plays 58 seconds and then breaks his leg too?

Cavs waive him to sign a stiff for their last game.

Just takes so long to get to that level that it's rare to see someone come back with more than a year off

I think he's realized his mistake. Could have racked up a nice 4-6 year career and millions more to live off comfortably with his mind and art, and whatever else caught his attention.

Which is why I still stick by the fact that he made the dumbest decision possible. He was one of the best young centers in the league making 10 million a year. Even if you're unhappy with your job, you stick out the contract and then retire. You don't just give up millions to quit on the spot like he did. Absolutely stupid.
