This is going to be insanely hard.

I'll still say that was a mix of a lot of bad things:
-Underestimating the Spurs
-Not figuring out adjustments based on not seeing Duncan on the court
-Spurs being used to not having Manu, and getting more familiar to not having Duncan
-Parker was simply amazing, especially early in the game
-Road game

Not to mention how long ago that game was played - in the NBA, what does February have to do with April? (aside from seeding, which isn't the issue...)

Yup...
I still am thinking about how this is the best stretch of basketball we've seen Dallas have to finish a season in quite a while.

I have it as Mavs in 7. I highly doubt, as Underdog points out, that we have the consistency to sweep the Spurs. At this point, I'm wondering if we have the consistency to win the series in the first place!

I really think we steal one of the first two in SA, then come home defend HC and then lose game 5 in SA win it in Game 6 at home. Parker destroying us in the regualr season is not the same as being abale to game for him 4-7 times in a row. Duncans knees will bother him and what we need to do is push the ball and make him work on the defensive end. Sometimes I think the Mavs fail to expose and exploit the other teams weakness. In this series it will be making Duncan work on defense and forcing him to get out and run.
Also, please nobody mention Bowen and defense in the same sentence. He is defensive stopper now like Sam Cassel is an elite PG. They might have had it but time done taken it away. I would relish seeing Bowen on any of our perimiter players.

I think stealing Game 1 is the key to this series - make San Antonio play on their heels...

The Spurs didn't really get to "rest" as much as they usually do come play off time. That may be a big factor coming into the Play offs and may hinder their usual "intensity." You saw how a tired Spurs team played the Lakers last year. Not saying the Spurs are as tired, they have some young legs this year, but guys like Duncan, Finley, Kurt Thomas have some mileage - and Ginobili is obviously out.

The biggest obstacle in this series is not guarding Parker or Duncan... but trying to go up against Pop in a best of 7 game series.

db.com lays it out on the line for ya:
Who would you rather be in the matchup vs Pop:
Carlisle or Avery?
It's also a big deal for Dwayne Casey.

True. But I get the feeling that R C is worthy of this upcoming battle! IMO what puts us over the top is Josh Howard. If he plays D, slashes and goes to the cup relentlessly we will win.

Does the Spurs board have a poll? I'm curious to see how their fans voted. Copy/paste it here if you can.

I think I'll stay away from Spurs boards to keep my cool. They can all rot in the pits of the worst fans of all time over there for all I care. They show no respect and deserve none.
Man I'm pumped about this. I literally haven't been this excited about the Mavs since the last time we met up with the Spurs in the playoffs. I hate them to the bitter end....and regret nothing!!!!
GO MAVS!!!

My birthday is in December.
Mavs in 6. Dirk averages 36/9/3 and breaks Bowen's leg somewhere in the process. Final Answer.

For the past year or so, I've kinda thought that Manu was the Spurs best offensive weapon. Without him, this Spurs team is extremely ordinary. The Mavs are definitively the better team. However, that does not assure a win. The Mavs managed to lose quite a few games this season in which they were definitively the better team.
Originally, I was thinking Mavs in 5..then settled on Mavs in 6. If this series goes 6, it'll be because the Mavs lay at least one huge egg in a game.

I am entirely disappointed to have chosen the Mavs in seven. I guess expected more from Junior Miller's Spurrrrrrs!
