Wonder if the Magic could get Bynum for Dwight if they sweetened the pot with Jameer Nelson.

Haha. Bynum is off to quite the start, though, isn't he? My goodness.

The plus with Bynum is that he is young and still learning/getting better. He just needs to prove he can stay healthy.

Now Varejao and Jamison are playing well and Irving and Tristan Thompson are both adjusting quickly. They probably still won't make the playoffs, but I don't think they'll compete for the worst record in the league again.

It almost looks like someone's trying pretty hard to not get traded to Orlando...

Obviously still early but I'm feeling good about my prediction that Portland would be better than most people thought.

Yeah but too be honest the Cavs need a wing bad, Caspi/Parker/Gee is not enough all 3 are really bench guys. It would be probably best for Cavs to not be mediocre and just be bad while Irving and Thompson shows promise, cause they could really use a Quincy Miller or Harrison Barnes.

Going into the season, I felt that injuries will be much more prominent this year. (shortened training camp, condensed schedule, etc.) This is why I think the Mavericks depth will be HUGE.

Here is the latest on some really crucial players.

Zach Randolph's knee injury is reportedly worse than initially believed.
The Grizzlies were being tight-lipped after the MRI results revealed no serious damage, but Randolph is clearly dealing with something more than just a bruised MCL. Stay tuned for an update, but it sounds like Randolph might be on the shelf for a while.

Manu Ginobili (broken hand) will undergo surgery on Thursday and will be sidelined 6-8 weeks.
He'll get a plate and screws inserted into his hand. Ginobili's timetable had been pegged as 4-6 weeks when the injury occurred, but he's going to be out a bit longer than initially expected. It's a big blow to the Spurs, and his minutes will be distributed among Gary Neal and James Anderson. We like Neal as the pickup over Anderson, as he hit 129 threes at a 41.9 percent clip last year in his rookie season.

For tonight's games
Deron Williams - out (ribs)
Kris Humphries - out (shoulder)
Trevor Ariza - out (groin)
Devin Harris - out (calf)
Josh Howard - out (quad)
Courtney Lee - out (calf)
Dwayne Wade - doubtful (foot)

Eric Gordon has already missed two games (knee)
Mike Conley has missed games (ankle)
Chauncey Billups 2 games (groin)
Rip Hamilton (groin)
Baron Davis has yet to play (back)

As you can tell, it just goes on and on

Remember when people were angry with the Jason Kidd / Devin Harris trade?

Here's the latest on Zach Randolph:
Zach Randolph has a torn ligament in his knee and will miss up to eight weeks.
An MRI revealed Randolph has a slight tear of the MCL in his right knee. It's a huge blow to the Grizzlies and fantasy owners alike, and it's way worse than previously believed. He will not require surgery and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Newly acquired Marreese Speights and Dante Cunningham have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Hah I would guess Deron had a shoulder injury for trying to carry the whole team.

Yup. Easily off to the best start of any team in the West.

It'll be interesting to see whether they can keep it up. They've been using a short rotation, and Aldridge has been playing extremely heavy minutes. Those are the kinds of things that could catch up to them down the line.

Something that struck me in looking at the stats. They've gone from the slowest pace in the NBA last year to one of the fastest so far this year.

Randolph and Ginobili injuries are huge, and should have a big impact on the West playoff seeding. With so many games crammed into such a short amount of time, those guys missing 2 months is a HUGE loss for the Spurs and Grizzlies.

Byron Mullens just took a shit on Tyson tonight. Man. Tyson's offense has been fine, but his defense, and worse yet, rebounding, have been downright pathetic. I know it's early...but 6.8 RPG for the 2nd worst rebounding team in the NBA in 32 MPG is unacceptable.

To put that in perspective, that's less than Kyle Lowry.

Mullens has looked awesome whenever I've seen him play this year.

I've enjoyed watching the Bobcats this year. Very exciting team of rejects (Augustine, Diaw, Mullens, and etc) who have been given steady playing time and are now producing.

Knicks were being booed off the court midway through the second.

I think the Spurs will be just fine. Its almost annual that Manu misses a period of games because of injuries. They have Neal/Anderson/Leonard to pick up the slack.

They'll still make the playoffs, but I see them as a 5-8 seed rather than competing for a top 4 spot.

Chandler is a really nice role player, but Knicks fans will certainly be excepting more than he has given them so far. That is when the contract starts to rear it's ugly head.

Does anyone know why the Thunder just gave away Mullens?

Only logical reason I can think of is that he's ugly as hell.

It could get ugly for Tyson in New York if he doesn't pick it up. They were booing Toney Douglas tonight for replacing Ian Shumpert...like he subbed himself in.

Like cadbane said his rebounding is pathetic. That's one thing he's done consistently throughout his career. Now he's gone to New York and turned into Brook Lopez.

On another note every time i checked in on that game Amare was getting worked over by fat Boris Diaw. Reminded me of him giving us hell back in 2006. He could have been something with a little discipline.

Yeah, Diaw is such an enigmatic waste of talent. Guy puts up a tripe-double all while looking like a fat bum. Great passer, good post game, can hit the three. A good rebounder when he tries. Only problem is motivation. I suspect that he's one of those guys that doesn't play the game because he loves it, but more so because he's good at it.

I fondly remember stating that if they did the '03 draft again, Diaw would go ahead of Howard. I'm sure it's true. Even if he is a great big fat person.

Keep in mind that discussion took place before Howard tore up his knee twice. Otherwise I'd still say that you were wrong.

Two words: Dan Tony

For the life of me, I can't understand why the Knicks would spend so much money on a player who specializes in defense and rebounding when they have a head coach who doesn't give two sh!ts about defense and rebounding... Tyson Chandler is never going to be given a fair chance to live up to his hefty contract.

Mullens had been stashed away in the d-league because he left school for financial reasons even though he was no where ready to compete in the NBA.
Then they got Aldrich and Perkins from Boston. They already had Mohammed as well.

Because this is MDT's last year in New York.

This doesn't make any sense, Kwame Brown giving Duncan the business.

On another note how in the world does Griffin have no blocks with his athletic ability? Wall already has 6.

Griffin plays less defense than Dirk.

Only Amare is a worst defensive PF.

Paul Westpaul, the Sac Kings, was fired today. That team is terrible.
