Having rondo on your teams means your offensive ceiling is being an average offense. His shooting/inability to score and the fact that he soaks up so many possessions just kills an offense. And he's not a great defender anymore.
As for better pgs in no particular order
Paul
Westbrook
Parker
Curry
Williams
Wall
Irving
Ty Lawson
Those guys are all better and guys like jrue holiday, Jeff Teague, Vasquez and lillard are all close.

Looks like we've lost out on Paul George and Demarcus Cousins this week as they're getting extensions.

And now that Shaq is in the mix with the Kings Cousins will probably stay. Shaq is going to be his "mentor".

One of those two is overrated and I don't want. The other was never coming. I'm not sad at all about that news.

If we'd have spent our cap room on Iggy we would not get Calderon. Likely wouldn't have the pieces or the cap room next year to snag Deng or Gortat either.

22.7 Dirk
9.3 Marion
3.2 Carter
1.5 Larkin
0.8 Crowder
------------------
37.5 mill = five guys on roster and only 21mill in space.
It's pretty tough to imagine that we could fit Gortat (7.7mill), Calderon (6.8mill) and Granger (14.0mill), a total of 28mill in salary into the 21mill in cap space. That's even forfeiting all the other guys we signed to deals above the cap (Ellis/Wright).
If your plan was to have us sign some this year and some the next, then I'd be terrified to see the team with 2/3 of those guys and a bunch of scrubs on one-year deals for space next year.
I think the team we put together is actually pretty decent and if Dirk takes 7-8 mill next year, we'll have 26mill in cap space (with Marion, Carter, Harris, Crowder, and James coming off of the books), which is enough to get possibly one younger superstar with max contract or 2-3 guys with contacts like Ellis' to play alongside Dirk, Ellis, and Calderon.

Of course i meant to sign Jose/Iggy this summer and the rest of the guys next summer.
And it was pretty obvious that Dwight would be the last try for a superstar via capspace and they would go down this 2+2 road.
Jose/Iggy was my choice allready months ago for the case of missing out on Paul/Dwight.

According to David Aldridge, the Pistons are not yet willing to commit max money to Greg Monroe.

Detroit's Greg Monroe would also look to be in line for an extension, having established himself as one of the good young big men in the East. He was top 10 last season in double-doubles (37) and was one of the few bright spots for the Pistons the last two seasons.
But league sources indicate an extension for Monroe is highly unlikely. The Pistons are not going to give him anywhere near the max, based on their current roster. Plus, Monroe's agent, David Falk, has little interest in signing an extension for less than that. While discussions are friendly, it's likely the two sides will revisit next summer -- if Monroe is still on the roster.
With Andre Drummond looking like the Pistons' center of the future, and with $56 million invested in Josh Smith -- much more effective as a four -- how much will Detroit put forth for Monroe?

I am 100% in favor of signing Monroe to a max deal and building around him for the next 8-10 years as we ease our way past the Dirk Era.

I like Monroe a lot, but max money? Seems steep for a guy like that when guys like Asik that provide more will go for less. He's not particularly strong nor particularly quick and his defense is a bit suspect. Still, I love a guy that can score in the post.

Monroe has the offensive skills to be a franchise player. He is exceptional in the paint as a scorer and is possibly the best-passing big man in the league right now. I agree that his defense isn't ideal but that wouldn't stop me for a moment. Defensive specialists and 3&D guys can be had. Potential franchise cornerstones don't hit the market often.
Seems like Dumars is head-over-heels with Drummond... personally, I like Monroe's skillset a lot better.
