Default PGT: Bulls top Mavs, Mavs fans not upset

Hard to be very disappointed about that one. Good effort from a lot of our guys.

And although I always want the Mavs to win, I count at least 3 ancillary benefits to losing this game.

I missed what Dirk did. Can someone give me the gist of Dirk ragging on Noah's FT shooting?

Someone might need to dislocate Roddy's other ring finger. He looked lot better on the floor after that happened.

It's four if you count the matchup--for me, all three top seeds are equally tough matchups, so I don't care much.

My third one was that it helps prevent the Spurs from having HCA throughout the playoffs. (Tenuous, I know, but living where I do, the second most important thing to me besides the Mavs winning championships is the Spurs not winning championships. )

Gotcha - I became a Mavs fan while living in Austin during the early years of the Spurs dynasty, so I can relate...

Sounds like a scene straight out of "Misery".

Do the coaches have a beat on why Roddy's jumper has been terrible the last 2 years?

He was just smiling with VC on the bench imitating Noah's godawful shooting style. No big deal - just pointing out a hitch to a team mate.

Good magnifying glass game.

The team messed the bed in the first quarter, but they bounced back and actually took the lead in the 3Q. Considering the guys who didn't play and the guys who actually HELPED lead the comeback charge, that's good stuff.

LOL when I saw him shooting those FT's, I all of a sudden thought Matrix's shot was a gift from the God's.

I do like Noah's bit about Cleaveland sucking (this was when LeBrick was still on the Cav's).

The rest of the little sentimental speech I could care less for.

roddy really impressed me. i don't think that anyone in the coaching staff forced him back into the game. you could see that he played through pain and his left hand was basically useless. that being said, he maybe showed his best game this season.
you can see all his struggles are linked with his mental state. i think after he went back into the game, he could play lose because nobody expected anything from him playing one-handed. maybe this can be a turning point before the playoffs because "injured" roddy would really help us.

off topic, could it be that the team doesn't like roddy? i'm just curious because when i saw some reactions from the bench after great roddy plays, especially his three-pointer which cut the lead to 5, it looked like they didn't care. maybe i'm just reading too mich into it but when dojo scored a tough layup in the first half, the bench was pumped up and showed emotion.

Nah, I think the team was genuinely disengaged with this game - they just want the regular season to be over.

No solid conclusion can be made about Roddy's mental state because of his inconsistency, however with this new injury or whatever you want to call it, I feel like he would be more motivated because of what he missed last season and even though this injury is not as serious I'm sure to him it feels as though it puts the post season in jeopardy.

And yea I agree with UD, the team just seemed out of it because everything is on chill mode until the playoffs begin. If we win these games, great, if not, no worries. We made the playoffs which is what Cubes wanted in the first place. With the bench getting pumped for Dojo it's the same situation when Yi came in and went 4/4 or something like that. Those guys don't get a chance to do so often so when they do, it's something to cheer about.

He's come a long way. Earlier in his career he would have needed a wheelchair to get off the floor.

And I thought I saw dirk over there showing a lot of concern about roddy.

Damn dirk can be funny..
http://mavericks.scout.com/2/1178537.html

"minutes of nonwork. He would sit the majority of the fourth quarter. Roddy Boubois, after suffering an ugly dislocation of his left ring finger, returned with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists. Importantly, he only committed two turnovers. … and while his writhing on the floor after the injury caused Dirk Nowitzki to joke that he thought they might have to “put him down’’ (you know, like he’s Old Yeller), the truth is, Roddy B was awful in the first half, showed some guts by cranking his finger back in its rightful direction"

My middle finger wont go down, how do I waive?
And this is how I'm supposed to teach kids how to behave?

Hard to get mad about a loss in which a player that probably won't play in the playoffs gets 25 minutes, but I got to say I was impressed with Dojo, the real problem he has is he is terrific at getting to the rim but can't finish in traffic, that being said he made some really nice passes.

We now have a one handed righty roddy and a one handed lefty delonte. If only we could put the two together!

I really only think Roddy hasn't been playing a whole lot because RC wanted to get Delonte back into the swing of things. I think in the playoffs, RC will go with whoever is playing well and whatever works.

I think in the playoffs Rick will try to use our championship core as much as possible

PG: Kidd 38 West 10
SG: West 6 Jet 42
SF: Marion 36 Carter 12
PF: Dirk 43 Marion 5
C: Wood 30 Wright 9 Ian 9

If we survive the 1st round he might give Roddy/Wright/West/Vince more minutes...

I would be shocked if Roddy plays in the playoffs.

I assume you are joking with playing Dirk/Jet/Marion 40+ minutes per game.

Marion at 40+ is a stretch, but Dirk played just under 40 last year.

I don't think you understand Rick at all - your minute distribution isn't even close to what we're going to see...

2011 playoff MPG: Dirk (39), Kidd (35), Terry (33), Marion (33), Haywood (15) - we're another year older, so don't expect any of those averages to increase (with the exception of Haywood, and only in certain matchups).

Carter is averaging 25 MPG and West is averaging 24 MPG in the regular season - they've been getting more burn lately and have been looking more & more vital to our playoff run with each passing game... No way they only play 12 and 16 MPG, respectively.

And expect to see a hell of a lot more than 9 minutes out of Wright and a healthy dose of Roddy - this team isn't getting very far unless they utilize those younger legs on the bench.

OK, you guys may be right. Maybe we are going nowhere without using our bench... from the beginning. We will see...

In my opinion Rick's 1st priority will be to survive at least one round in the playoffs. Even if it means (taking the risk of) running our core into the ground. I think deep down Rick does not trust our bench as much as last year and he will simply try to gamble....(heavy minutes + short series). To use a bench in the playoffs from the beginning, one has to be pretty confident about 1. bench quality 2. the possibility to make a deep playoff run... is Rick ?
