Dickau
Anyone thinks that we should have kept Dickau?
He looks pretty good on a lousy team

RE:Dickau
No
When it comes to a 3rd PG who is never going to play, I'd rather have a vet like Darryl Armstrong on the bench. Just another voice in Devin's ear when he comes off the bench. Plus he seems to be handling his role well.
On the other hand, I should have kept him on my f****** fantasy team

RE: Dickau
I like DA more than Dickau for this team. DA has proven a few games so far that he can step in and handle the ball in tough situations. Dickau is an OK player on a bad team. DA is able to use his veteran knowledge to know exactly what the team needs of him off the bench. He could be big in the playoffs.

RE:Dickau
I've liked Dickau since his days at Gonzaga. I wish him the best, but I really do prefer having DA. DA hopefully won't play much but he's a competent vet that could be this year's Walt Williams.

a 25 point game and now this one.
He just upped his career high in scoring and his season high in assists.

RE:Dickau
I always wanted to see what the kid had...I enjoyed watching him play in college, and I'd like to see him succeed in the NBA. As of right now, I'd probably rather have DDickau on the club....especially now that Terry is emerging and Harris is playing well off of the bench.

RE:Dickau
But from Dickau's POV, it's probably better that he moved. He was never gonna get the court-time to develop and show what he could do.
Also, he was never gonna live down the slamming-Dirk's-fingers-in-a-taxi-door incident either.

RE: Dickau
I think there are a lot of players in this league that can do what Dickau has done in a similar position... (plenty of PT, green light~) they're just glued to the bench on teams that have a FEW more wins than New Orleans. Still, he's a great shooter.

Excellent point...lets not forget that he's shooting just under 41% from the field and 32% from deep and his A/TO ratio is under two. Not like he's lighting it up, just getting an opportunity.

Oh, of course..the jury is still out on Dickau...but, I do believe that he's an intelligent player that can shoot the ball better than what he's shown so far...
Hindsight is 20/20 in this case for me...and even at that, the jury's still out...but, I do wish the kid well.

RE:Dickau
Dan Dickau was considered for WC PLAYER OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK!!!!! Believe it or not, I am not very happy we gave him up. .....for a thirty six year old afterthought that plays 0 minutes per game.

That against a good defensive Houston team in a low scoring game. I guess, we let yet another fine guard getaway for nothing!

How about 16 assists (and a win) tonight against Philly?

RE:Dickau
Let's continue with the Dickau watch
tonight: 8-18, 19 Pts 4 Rebs, 12 Assists (but a loss)
Maybe he slammed the door on Dirk on purpose, after all.
I mean, he must feel like being in the right place at the right time. Lot of minutes. Green light on the offensive end. No need to play serious defense (nobody cares that much about NO losing or winning this year, anyway). And his team will surely become better next year (maybe they turn it around in the same way as Orlando this season).
In Dallas he would be squeezed between Mbenga and Podkolzin on the end of the bench...

RE:Dickau
As of today 2/1 here is how we stand:
Dickau: 13.8 ppg 3.0 rebounds 4.4 assists .336 for 3points & .849 ft's
Armstrong: 6.1 ppg 2.3 rebounds 3.3 assists .252 for 3points & .865 ft's
So we gain a ok veteran vs keeping a young point guard for the future or better trade value.
It's so clear we lost in this trade

RE: Dickau
I wouldn't say that, Dickau's #'s would've stayed like they were in Dallas... crappy.
I said it way above, anybody could thrive in that "green-lite / infinite PT" situation... almost anybody that's good enough to be in the league in the first place.

RE:Dickau
Sure we lost talent wise, but at the time Terry was struggling and needed a kick in the ass. Other interesting facts Armstrong has the worst field goal shooting percentage of any player with at least 10 mpg or more. Although he is a much better defender then Dickau. By the way a lot of guys put up decent numbers on bad teams. Gary Trent for instance was the most improved player of the year five years or so ago.

RE:Dickau
We only lost if you want to go back to the days of having a crappy defense playing PG. Dickau would not have helped the Mavericks. He is not as good as Terry or Harris, and he is a much worse defender than Armstrong. I want DA to be on the 12 man roster com playoff time so that we have the option to run 3 quick pesky good defending PG's at who ever we play. The 3 of them will wear out any decent PG over a 7 game series if utilized correctly. God bless Dan, but he would have never seen the floor for the Mavs.

If Dickau was still here, his numbers would be worse than Armstrong's. Our coaches don't trust Devin whose a much better prospect so Dickou would be burried on the bench with Cal Booth and DJ.
It's a little easier to but up numbers without the pressure of winning...somebody has to score on a bad team.
Plus, Dickau may be a worse defender than Nash. I'd still do the trade.

agreed. the best thing for DD is to be on a very bad team and get some minutes...
