Default Carter to NYK...Not so fast says Jersey

First off, take with a grain of salt please. Chad Ford of ESPN is reporting this.

According to him and his infamous sources, Toronto is in serious talks with Jersey for this swap.

To NJ....Carter

To TOR...Mourning, A Williams, E Williams, two first rounders.....

His sources report this deal could be done by today....

More as it comes in....

EDIT: Just thought of this....If this deal goes through, then any possibilities of trading Kidd should go out the window as this would be a clear signal by the Nets that they are attemtping to rebuild a once championship contender around a nuecles of Kidd and Carter.

Raptors in serious talks to send Carter to Nets

By Chad Ford
ESPN Insider

The New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors are in serious talks about a trade that would send Vince Carter to the Nets, several league sources told ESPN.com on Friday.

The Raptors would acquire Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and two first round draft picks in exchange for Carter. According to those same sources, the talks have moved to the point that they could be finalized before the end of the day.

All trades must be approved by the league office and players must pass physicals before they can become official. Carter is currently on the injured list with a strained left Achilles' tendon suffered last Friday and is to miss at least five games.

If the trade goes through, it would be the most serious indication yet that the Nets want to keep Jason Kidd and are willing to build a championship contender around him. After the offseason trades of Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd expressed his displeasure with the direction the Nets were taking. However, with Carter on board, the Nets have a shot at moving back into contention.

According to one source, Kidd was briefed on the trade and thinks Carter will be a strong addition to the team.

A backcourt of Kidd, Carter and Richard Jefferson is a highlight reel waiting to happen. However the Nets will be very thin up front. After the trade, the Nets would have just Jason Collins, Brian Scalabrine and rookie Nenad Kristic to play on the front line. The move has more interesting implications for the Raptors. Both Aaron and Eric Williams are the type of players that Sam Mitchell is after. They are tough, blue collar guys who will play their hearts out. Mourning gives them some size at the five that they desperately need. However, it will be interesting to see how Mourning reacts to the trade.

He's been asking out of New Jersey all season because he wants to play for a contender. Whatever you think about this trade for Toronto, it's tough to say that it turns them into a playoff caliber team. Instead, the Raptors are trying to surround their star young player, Chris Bosh, with solid, veteran players who play the right way. The two first round picks should help them rebuild.

The Nets currently have in hand their own first round pick, the Sixers first round pick (top 8 protected) and the Clippers first rounder (top 14 protected). It wasn't clear immediately which picks would be headed to Toronto in the trade.

Makes a lot of sense for NJ. They are looking to really suck, and they will.

and by suck, I mean save money.

Want something even more interesting....

Chad Ford also said that Shaq would be in a Knick uniform and T-Mac would be in a Suns uniform.

If freakin Jim Gray can get T-Mac's future destination correct and he can't, then why on earth is Chad Ford even an "insdier?"

Hence the line...."take with a grain of salt."

Capish?

EDIT: Well it looks like miracles can happen during the holidays. Chad Ford actually got one correct!!!

Givem' a hand everyone.....

The only way this deal even looks serviceable for the Nets is if Carter returns to the old Carter. Nets gave up 2 first rounders? They better hope those picks are no lower than the 20th overall pick.

the nets stink and imo, have stunk for the last 2 years..it just goes to show how bad the east is that they've made the finals 2 years in a row

they were probably desperate to get some fans in the seats. the attendance has been horrible for god knows how many years and this could be a saving grace IF carter averages 25+ and is the high flying carter of old.

The new owner is a bum that doesn't want to spend money so they probably figured that with carter, even if they don't make the playoffs, people will at least show up to the games

When you look at Kidd,Carter, and Jefferson at the 1, 2, 3 they look unstoppable...but when you see that Scalabrine and Jarron Collins are down low, you almost want to throw them a lottery pick early....
