Default 19 steals and 26 turnovers forced

WHat a great defensive stand by the mavs. Does anyone realize that we are a much better team than the kings. We had a good opportunity to win both games at Arco but kings were not even close to even giving them a chance to lose by 10 points. Well 19 steals and 26 tos just tell you that this team is capable of playing great defense but somehow we do not show up in road games.

Last but not the least, please trust the research we have done on gameday threads and do not start threads unless there is no choice. u2 stepped up and we need to keep this win to rally and win 4 in a row. Please also join in the rally icons.

We have to stay alert and have active hands on defense. That's really the key against the Kings. On most nights if we eliminate the easy layups and dunks we'll beat them. They're clearly on thier last legs. If they beat us, they'll quickly be disposed of the the 2nd round.

It was one of the worst passing efforts I've seen the Kings put forth. They couldn't even throw simple post entry passes on several occasions.

They're still up 2-1 and if they win game 4 the series is essentially over, but there are serious issues with this team that can't be ignored. Can't have 4 of the most important players on the team be no-shows.

It was pretty obvious that Bibby's hip stiffened up after his BLAZING first quarter. He was ineffective the rest of the game. Finley shut down Peja and Howard shut down Horse-face. Dirk was able to dominate Divac and Miller. We really didn't have an answer for Webber but he isn't physically capable of carrying a team this postseason so it wasn't a big deal.

Really good defensive effort by Mavs.

This game really raises some questions for this team. Most notably

Does Bibby always cut right?
Does Peja always dissapear when defended?
Does Brad Miller have a tear duct disorder or does he always just look like he's crying?

when? I <3 Finley but when he doesnt play well I call him on it. I'm harsh on Walker but I mostly play the devil's advocate against him. No one else can do wrong on the team other than Delk and Williams.

You called Walker a "stupid player" which is tottally unnecessary!

He makes stupid plays but he isn't all that gifted in the first place!

You don't see that he was conditioned into thinking he was the next Magic Johnson at a very early NBA age.....well he is by far not Magic so any team that has Walker has to take the good with the bad....

With Walker,

every missed shot, missed free throw, turnover is magnified....

he misses 1 layup and ppl think he's missed 8

he turns the ball over 1 or 2 times and the feeling is he's coughed it up 5 times while killing a fan in the process....

it's got to stop!

No people think he missed 5 layups, one long two and a three. He shot a sub-par 36% from the field which, as has been pointed out, is nothing abnormal for Walker.

Walker is turnover prone but mostly people are concerned with the lack of effort or basketball I.Q. when he passes the ball. All the talent in the world doesnt make you a superstar if you are lazy and/or throw stupid passes.

Well in general AW misses some of the easiest shots and makes the ridiculous ones....

you're right he's shootin awful but his turnovers are made mostly out of trying to be spectacular or doing to much....NOT because of brain farts, which do occassionally happen

you have to understand that Im only arguing with you. I wouldnt bash on Walker if you hadnt defended him. He's not a terrible player, he just doesnt really fit our system and he has raised some eyebrows with his scoring and TOs

Puba, since most of us go the games or see them on tv and actually read the boxscores and yahoo/espn timlines....we know exactly what's happening. 1 missed layup isn't 8 and 1 or two turnovers aren't 5.

This is why you're being dissed on this board like no one else that I've seen in almost two years....except trolls. Just irrational posts that make no sense.

I hope you get the message.

First of all I watch all the games and maybe we just have a different definition of a "layup" and "wideopen"

now I'm not saying Walker doesn't miss 5 or even 8 shots but he clearly doesn't miss 5-8 "wideopen layups" and I am arguing that fans on this board make it seem like he does on A NIGHTLY BASIS!

And Erica I didn't start this you did....you called him "stupid"

...my favorite player of all time and you called him stupid!!! you hurt my feelings!!! Waaaaanngggg!! *cries*

Actually no....but whatever....

you have to learn a couple of things, Puba

1) learn to get over things- bringing up something I said days ago in another thread is a good way of irritating people especially if you bring the same thing up multiple times and in many threads. This board is a rough combination of stats, opinion and emotion. It should not be taken too seriously.

2) learn to accept Walker's limitations. He isnt perfect and actually is fairly inefficient. Being a fan of a team does not mean you have to like every player and being a fan of a player doesnt mean you have to wear rose-tinted glasses. You can be realistic and still be a fan.

3) learn to love stats. The right stats tell the story. What is there to say?

Well there are fans like mavsfan55 that are beginning to want Walker to fail and that isn't good for the team....I think that makes everything worse.....and will result in an unfavorable outcome....

I don't love stats in real games but I do love stats in video games.....if a player shoots less than 70% I reset the game and start over....

If the Mavs win by 25 zillion points all the while shooting 40% I'm all for it!

Maybe you should start out on your own and form your own Antoine Walker board. See if anyone salutes your flag.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he's the anti Kevin Garnett. Everytime he's on the floor, the team gets worse and worse. Curse another team with him.

You're crazy!

The team just isn't as efficient at scoring and I think it's just more mental than anything....guys like Nash, Dirk, and Finley just aren't playing with Walker and his bi-polar emotional being....

they will get used to it....and it will be $$

And no I'm not that big of an AW fan to start anything like that.....

I don't even own a jersey or card of his.....

he was just a poor soul destined for a paradoxical career that happened to be on my favorite team in all the living land.....I watched this rookie "punk" grow up and mature into an all-star.....he's been on the worst team in the league, a laughing stock bottom feeder, to a playoff team....and now to a championship caliber team....

I'm a bit biased so sue me....AW may not be able to help this team a lot but ultimately he can AND WILL help this team until he's traded or his contract runs out...

I'm not crazy. Antoine Walker is a statistical anomaly. One of the worst plus/minuses in Basketball. I don't know what it is, I don't even care. All I know is the guy is like a human vacuum that sucks the life out of a team whenever he's on the floor. He has terrible shooting efficiency, doesen't get to the line and shoots a SHAQ like percentage when he does, wants to take too many threes, and has a basketball IQ in the single digits. He rebounds, so does Danny Fortson. He's a leech. Peel him off.

Dude some guys just don't have the stats you like I can understand that....

but AW hasn't even played good this year and you haven't seen his true capabilities.....this has really been an adjustment and experimental year....AW has had almost career lows in shooting and minutes played and points scored this year on one of the best teams in the league.....I can only see things going up in the future.....

next year the Mavs with AW will repeat as NBA Champions and they break the regular season record for wins.....

Back on topic, then. This quote from Nellie on the Mavs' defense:
"A lot of man to man and some zone. We don't know what we're doing, so they sure as heck don't know."

That's freakin hilarious. Nellie really cracks me up sometimes.

I like that with a bad defense of team as your opponent, but when it's a good one or even an average one you need to know what type of defense you're trying to dictate out there....

I do think Nellie was joking though....

Moreover:

23 Offensive rebounds to 11.

56 -46 rebounding edge.

27Personal fouls to 22 Personal Fouls -- Just tells me the mavs were more aggressive and did not let the opponent just penetrate and layup. There were a few of them by Webber but those came after Dirk was in foul trouble and at some point Webber will make those every game.

Back on topic, then. This quote from Nellie on the Mavs' defense:
"A lot of man to man and some zone. We don't know what we're doing, so they sure as heck don't know."

That's freakin hilarious. Nellie really cracks me up sometimes.

hilarious. I'm glad he let his team play tonight. We aren't that bad defensively. It's only when everyone looks confused and lost in some complex scheme that they really bite.

A lot of threads end up drifting off-topic. It's normal. But you have a point, a lot of those threads end up being a fight between puba vs. everyone on how good Walker is.

But back on topic, I was incredibly pleased with the defensive effort yesterday. We're in good shape if we can continue to play defense like that.
