I don't believe you're allowed to trade picks consecutive years so we should have this 2009 pick. But 2010 is the Nets pick.

I can't believe we may be still paying for the Kidd trade in 2010 and we may not even have Kidd anymore then.

Actually you could trade the 2009 pick, it just has to occur after the pick is done. So basically the Mavs can't do anything with the pick until after they make the 2009 selection. Handicaps them in making trades, such as Ron Artest, all it took was salary and 2 first rounders.

The '09 draft doesn't look too deep...based on all the mocks I've skimmed through, Tyler Hansbrough seems like the only intriguing player outside of the lottery...
