Ginobili Wins 2007-08 Sixth Man of the Year Award
Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs is the winner of the NBA Sixth Man Award presented by Kia Motors as the league’s best player in a reserve role for the 2007-08 season, the NBA announced today.
Ginobili received 615 out of a possible 620 points, including 123 of a possible 124 first-place votes, from a panel of 124 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Leandro Barbosa of the Phoenix Suns finished second with 283 points and Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks finished third with 44 points.

Dirk would also be the 6th man of the year if he came off the bench...
What a stupid award.

it's been a long time since any of the best 6th men were really bench players. all of those guys are on the court when the game is on the line.

Manu looks incredibly excited over winning the award. I had a similar look on my face the last time they accidentally super-sized my combo meal even though I didn't pay the extra 49 cents.

I don't understand why this all-star caliber player is coming off the bench. Does he play better off the bench, and if so, what's wrong with his mindset then?

The team plays better with Manu coming off the bench. Finley plays better when Duncan is out there drawing attention away from everyone else. Manu can create his own opportunities so things work better to have Manu out there when Tim is getting his first half rest.

I hope the spurs don't go on a 11 game winning streak because of this thread.
The spurs put manu on the bench because they just want to rack up 6th man awards. Let's make Dirk come off the bench.

What's that make him? The 151th best player in the league?

I once read a thing about how Edgar Allen Poe had the freakiest looking face because if you took a photo of him, cut it in half length-wise, and made two faces out of the halves, they wouldn't look anything alike...

Some people amaze me. It's no secret I'm a fan of Finley's and follow him on the Spurs but I'm a Mavs fan first. If the Mavs get knocked out then I'm rooting for Finley and the Spurs. Nothing wrong with that the last time I checked.
Do you think it's fun to moderate this board and put up with some of the sh*t thrown this way if I were simply a Spurs fan?

I interpret your comment to imply Mavs fans are expressing jealousy of Ginobili "because we have Stackhouse and Terry". No, we hate him because he's a little bitch.

That would be more interesting than giving the 6th Man of the Year Award to the same All-Star-who-should-be-starting year after year...

For the next Spurs game, take a gulp of your beer everytime Manu travels in the lane without being called for it. You'll be drunk by the end of the 1st quarter

If Dirk came off the bench every game we wouldn't make the playoffs. The game would be out of reach by the time Dirk would get in. I guess it matters what team you play for and if you notice great teams can afford to have great players come off the bench. Not everyone can do that. I think Spurs do it to get scoring off the bench though. Not for him to be able to win the 6th man award. From what i've seen he actually plays better coming off the bench and Finley actually plays better starting for whatever reason.

Shouldn't Barbosa and JET be starting as well? Shouldn't most 6th men be starting lol? Isn't that what the position has become? A all star coming off the bench?
