Got any advice??
This is getting ridiculous. About six weeks ago I was drying my hair getting ready for school when I noticed a pair of beady eyes staring at me. At first I thought it was a rat, but upon closer study I found that it was a baby opossum. To make a very long story shorter, we have now caught with our bare hands five opossums (all babies, but getting bigger each time). The apartment maintenance people came out and found a hole in the attic and patched it. They believe a mother came in and had her babies and they swore 6 weeks ago that we should see the last of the babies within 2 weeks. I'm up now because we just caught another one. I had just fallen asleep when my husband woke me up to tell me that he saw another rodent running around.
Frankly, I think it is ridiculous to pay as much rent as I'm paying to live with disease infected rodents and have to catch them at all hours of the night (since this is when they choose to come out). My husband thinks we should ask to be moved to another apartment in the complex because the management swears up and down that we are the only ones with this problem (in fact, they didn't believe us at first until I cornered one and had maintenance come see with their own eyes). I really don't want to pack up everything and move to another building in the complex. I also don't want to have to go looking for another place to live. This was by far the best deal for the square footage I was able to find, and other than rodents, they are pretty nice apartments. Any suggestions on what we should do? Do any of you know how to get rid of these nasty creatures? Please help me!! RE: Got any advice??
Hey, You can sue them if you want to. You cannot have them at an apartment. Do you know that a major part of the rent you pay should go to maintenance according to the tax returns these apartment owners show. F Em. Do not pay the rent unless they get this fixed or move you on their own cost to a different apartment. Nothing else works, call some of our good Lawyers at d-m.com.

RE:Got any advice??
Possum is not a rodent. It is a marsupial.
I suggest moving.

RE:Got any advice??
man, my fiance had a possum sneak into the house through an open basement crawlspace door, then up into the house ... it must have scurried along the wall to the next open door, the bathroom. it was hiding behind the toilet seat. it wasn't that big, so it had to have been a young'un.
as for advice... we called animal control, and they said to us, no lie, "the only thing you can do is either shoot it or beat it to death."
I wanted a more peaceful solution, so I caught it in a garbage can and set it free in someone else's yard.
here's the lil' bugger

BBL, that's what ours looked like at first, but now they have grown. And Dooby, thanks for the clarification. Somewhere deep down I knew that possums were marsupials, but they look so much like rats when they are babies that I assumed they were rodents. Whatever they are, I want them gone!!!

there's a possum that hangs out outside of my house and plays with my cat....I'd suggest that you take it in as a pet.

RE:Got any advice??
I used to see a possum in my backyard but my Lab has run it away. Now I understand that the possum is in neighbours backyard.

RE:Got any advice??
This reminds me of my favourite possum recipe. Boil a possum in a big pot, together with a housebrick. When it comes to the boil, simmer for 1-2 hours, throw out the possum and eat the brick.
