Texas vs Tech
you heard it here first, Texas Tech will slaughter number 8 Texas. I'm calling vegas now.
Reasons: TECH: number 1 offense in the nation, number 1 pass game, and top 3 defense in big 12 against the pass, 70 points in each homegame, in lubbock
TEXAS: ranked 108 nationally in passing yards, Young who got benched last week is starting this week, only positve is they have a decent defense, and a solid run game. That doesnt transelate into 38.9 points which Tech has averaged and a whopping 70pt average at home.

Tech plus 3 looks like a good bet.

RE: Texas vs Tech
Agreed.
Jones SBC will be loud and intimidating. I too think the 2004 result will be a lot like 2002 - so Raider fans will again rush the field @ games end.
I leave for Lubbock on Thursday night - my buddies have been talking this game up since Chance Mock rescued UT from certain defeat vs. TECH last year. There is nothing to do in west Texas but lie in wait for schools like UT & ATM. TECH will be ready to play and can position themselves for a Holiday Bowl bid if they win out.
Texas Tech 44 Texas 37

ya i used to live in lubbock, nothing there but cotton, cows and Tech football. Tech has a very good record against texas at home.

RE:Texas vs Tech
I'm a UT fan, but I sure as hell hope Tech wipes the floor with UT. Honestly I want as many losses for UT as they can get. Then say bye, bye to Brown and hello Spurrier.
BTW, I can't stand Tech and their score running up coach.

The blueprint to defeat Texas is out there -
Defense: Stack the box with 8 or 9 guys, Make Vince Young beat you through the air, Go for the strip against Benson
Offense: Eat up the clock, Use a lot of misdirection to counteract UT's speed, work mismatches (WR Hicks 6'6 vs. smaller DB's)
Intangibles:
D. Johnson/ V. Young both coming off injuries
Mike Leach has had 2 weeks to prepare for UT
TT won 2 of last 3 in Lubbock

Spurrier won't come here - not enough golf courses.
Isn't Rick Neuhisel available?
Q - Mack won't get Fired until he loses to TECH, OU, A&M, and BAYLOR in the same season. Peterson was only the tip of the iceberg. We'll soon see Franchione and Leach start picking away @ Texas recruits. Once kids start heading to Waco & Lubbock over Austin Brown will be shown the door.

RE: Texas vs Tech
Mack Brown refuses to run Cedric 30 times a game, and unless cedric scores at least 6 touchdowns on those 30 carries, ut will loose. Tech wil stack the box, and the main mismatches will be techs 4, 5, 6 recievers on Texas 3rd and 4 th string D-backs.

RE: Texas vs Tech
actually they would need 6 touchdowns and a field goal to beat the 38.9 total average (70pts at home but ill ignore that). The only time ut has scored more than 35 points is against North texas and the lowly Bears.

It might just become 45-14...
I think your exact words were:

Texas Tech will slaughter number 8 Texas

Not so much actually!

RE:Texas vs Tech
Great job by Greg Robinson. I felt like we could run and thus score on Tech, but I never thought we could hold them to 14.

No problem...
Future advice for you would be not to wager on anything that comes from Lubbock!

RE:Texas vs Tech
Does it seem that every yard gained by Young when he tucks the ball under his arm instead of passing is a yard lost for the future of Longhorn football?

Ouch indeed....we left in the 3rd quarter. My buddies and I laid waste to a 30-pack of Miller Lite to drown our sorrows.
You should have heard the heckles and shouts from the TT student sections. After the interception kids started calling for Cumbie's benching and completely turned on the team. By halftime it was apparent the game was lost. The usually rowdy Raider fans were lifeless and unemotional in the savage beatdown.
What's worse than staying in Lubbock?
Staying in Lubbock after a Tech loss.
