LaFrentz out with knee injury

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics placed forward Raef LaFrentz on the injured list with right knee tendinitis Friday.

LaFrentz, appearing in all eight games this season for the Celtics, is averaging 8.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 22.3 minutes of play.

In six NBA seasons, LaFrentz has averaged 12.1 points and seven rebounds with Denver, Dallas and the Celtics.

To take his place in the roster, Boston activated forward Kendrick Perkins. The rookie missed the first eight games of the season with bilateral infrapatellar tendinitis.

That's pretty sad. He'll probably be injured for a long time. Do you remember how long it took him to recover from a sprained ankle?

Is this like a 5-game thing for LaF?

If it's more serious than that, then the Mavs have been extremely lucky, although Ainge was definitely being held up by something injury-related with those x-rays before finalizing the deal.

Bottom line: Ainge wanted to be rid of Walker enough to take a chance on a potentially injured player. OTOH, Mavs get a player in Walker who is producing something.

Sorry, though not surprised, to see LaF gimping.
