Would you guys be interested in free "yourname@dallas-mavs.com" e-mail accounts? They would be web-based, kind of like Hotmail. If there's not much of a demand for this feature, then I probably won't implement it right now.

Considering the fact that I am currently unable to access my e-mail due to the delinquent payment of our cable modem bill by one of my roommates, I would love to be able to set up an accound DJ... I can always get a new hotmail account, but that just doesn't have the cache of a Mavs account...

Yeah...mine at mavsfanforlife.com will probably go out soon too because the site isn't doing too well. It's been up for over a month and not a single post. It's too complicated. I think email would be a good idea.

When do you think you might add this feature? It's a great idea.

will it be able to hit the popservers to retrieve other email accounts like hotmail? Just curious. I'd probably be interested though.

dj, dall-mav - You guys are really on the verge of something special with this site. I hope you guys can really take off and grow if that is your goal. Of course, selfishly, I would like it to stay small, but this site rocks and I would not be surprised if you grew into a Newberg-type success story. Thanks again for everything and may I just say again....Excellent job!

i agree..the success of this board has been amazing...but to see the recent growth, well...now i think it's time to really do something about it...when you're growing like this, that's when you do something a bit out on the limb..whether it's creating the dallas-mavs email or whether it's adding a separate sports section.
what will it probably do?..further expand growth.
there's several options on what to do while experiencing good growth..
i think we should throw some ideas out there for dj and dall-mav

A real problem that growth will bring on will be posters like Joe Joe. The bigger the board, the more people like that want to tear it down. Unfortunately some people enjoy destroying things that others created. There needs to be some way to filter them out - like an "ignore" function.

it would be good from an individual stand point..however, he would continue to argue with himeslf and post b.s. all over the board to ruin it for new posters before they could find the ignore function

You know I just don't see taht kind of crap over at newbergs site(no indictment meant here for this site). I know he filters through registration, but for some reason you don't get a-holes like joe joe there. Not sure why.
I would be happy to do some work for the site if it helped. I don't mind spending time or a few bucks for a service like this.

Most bandwaggoners and such will flock to the official site. If there wasn't an official board, then we'd be getting hammered.

Maybe you should have cant-spell-to-save-my-life@dallas-mavs.com. Dr, if I do not insult you, please do not insult me. I would like nothing more than to just talk basketball here on this site.

If you would leave the negativity out of 100% of your posts, I think you would surprised at how we might all accept you...until then...you will still be looked at as a jackass.

It would be such a STATUS thing to have an email@Dallas-Mavs.com
I would tell my friends that it was an "exclusive" privilege.
LOL j/k, but I'd love it just the same.
Please be nice. Thank you.

I'm not sure I like any of the new freebie e-mail service available so this feature may not be available soon. However, my host is setting up a new mail service for the dallas-mavs.com domain that would allow me to give out a few dozen or so e-mail accounts. So I'm thinking maybe they could be given out to members who submit a certain number of article a week/month or something like that (ya'll remember that new forum that was created after a few dozen people said they'd write for the site right?? ). What do you all think about that idea?
I'm still considering adding one of those e-mail services that would allow anyone to get an @dallas-mavs.com e-mail address, but since neither my host or I would be providing the actual service (a third party would provide the service), we'd have no control over any technical probs that may come up as a result of it.
