I don't think they know much...just reiterating a report from the Babe. They discussed very briefly.

I like the move because it seems to indicate that this team is serious about winning THIS year. No running out a green QB who may hurt the team more than he helps it. This team is pulling out all the stops to win in '05. I expect a flurry of additional moves...and I'm quite excited about the future of the Cowboys.

From Peter King
------------------------------------------
Sometimes, coaches don't want players to think. They want players to do what they're told. Bledsoe defied the Buffalo staff that day, a sort of subtle defiance that began to irritate the Bills coaches the same way it had irritated Bill Belichick's staff four years earlier. That simple act didn't get Bledsoe unemployed. Three very big Bills losses this year (at New England, at Baltimore, and that Pittsburgh game), in which he threw zero touchdowns and eight interceptions, helped Mike Mularkey decide he'd be as well off playing J.P. Losman, a kid he knew had some mobility and, more important, would follow instructions.
-------------------------------------------

He'll be getting booed at home games by Thanksgiving

Not bad...Jonas Jennings and Mike Williams are good Tackles. It wouldn't kill them to upgrade at the guard position but it's a solid line.

Bledsoe isn't any more mobile than Vinney dispite being about seven years younger.

Sonuvabitch Bill.
The first rounder picks better yield 2 defensive playmakers, cause you've handicapped us at QB... AGAIN.

NO MORE TALK ABOUT WRs!! Drew Bledsoe renders any big name useless since he's so fond of fucking things up.

One thing is for sure: the last time Parcells and Bledsoe were together, the balls were flying around. If the Cowboys do make a move for a Coles or a Moss or a top WR in the draft, then clearly they will be designing the most potent passing attack since the Show on Turf. Keyshawn to go across the middle, [insert guy here] to go deep, Glenn to go everywhere, Morgan/Copper/Crayton to show up occasionally in some crazy sets. This, of course, not to mention the Pro Bowler at TE. And Jules Jones out of the backfield. And Richie Anderson, if he stays around.

Get Bledsoe one more guy to throw to, get him some beef up front to keep the bad guys away, and spray the footballs around!

Surely Parcells is recognizing the requirements in today's pass-interference league, and he is adjusting his personnel accordingly.

...its a nice thought, really. But chum, what positives did we take away from last year?

1. Julius can and should carry the ball 25+ times per game.
2. Whitten should be incorporated as much as possible.
3. The O-Line is young and improving.

The Cowboys should focus on the run game, the underneath stuff, and the occasional deep ball.

Certainly the Patriots have proven that being versitile is one key to success. And no coubt the cowboys would be smart to expand the offensive scheme. But a 33-year-old Drew Bledsoe cannot come in and orchestrate a pass-happy attack, no matter how good his supporting cast may be.

He's an unrestricted FA, but if Baltimore doesn't get Moss expect them to throw huge money at Burres...especially since Porter is off the market.

OKAY sike...

I have no definitive proof that Drew Bledsoe isn't the greatest quarterback of the last decade. I'm merely going with the odds. To annoint the old man as the cowboys savior is premature. To speculate that he could lead a revamped cowboys offense is unwise.

I want to be optimistic about our Football team - but it's damn hard to sit back and watch Bill Parcells try to pimp our 2003 ride with parts from a 1996 model with high miles. (And I don't want to hear about them only being "highway" miles, THE DUDE IS OLD)

"pimp our ride", made me laugh...nice

just like it is too eary to cry to the Heavens in praise, it is also too early to shoot down the possibility that Bledsoe might have a retreanching year....

not ready to make a prediction myself either way yet....

Cap, one other thing that I think we should keep in mind about last year is the impact that losing Glenn to injury had on the offense. In the early going we were pretty effective in the passing game. Glenn took a lot of our potency to the bench with him.

Of course Julius Jones and Jason Witten should be maximized. But there is still plenty of room for Jones to get 25 carries a game in a pass-friendly offense. And having a deep threat can only open things up for Witten. In fact, you might say that the very BEST way to maximize the contributions of Jones and Witten is to present the defense with a number of different threats.

The better our offense will be next year, the better our defense will be as well. If we can consistently put points on the scoreboard and can play from ahead more often than not, the defense will have a much easier task. I'm glad to see that the Cowboys are wasting no time in addressing this side of the ball.

Still and all, if you don't believe Bledsoe has any skills left in him, there is not much reason to hate this move. It's not like we traded Henson for him. My bet is that they will handle this situation just like last year and say that the job will be won in training camp. If Henson is truly the best choice for the team on opening day, he'll be under center.

And when rating this move, you also have to consider what the alternatives were. From what I have seen, they didn't look too attractive.

Mark my Words......

The Cowboys DO NOT need another savior named "Drew" to come along, hype them up on the future, only to then bring them crashing back down to earth.

"Screw the Drew's".......This is who the Cowboys need.....

Cowboy Fans, I present to you, your franchise's savior.....You can thank me later!

Saw this on ESPN and couldn't believe it. I guess this means so long to Henson. I just hope they didn't spend more than 3 million on him. One position down alot more to go. For the people who have seen him play is he not just a younger version of Vinny? Maybe that's what attracted him to the Cowboys.

I am finding it harder and harder to root for the Cowboys. I mean, I will, it's just hard when some idiot is making decisions that affect our future so gravely.

If the younger Drew is our starter, I will take that back. But my hatred for Parcells is telling me that he won't be.

This is what worries me. He signed so quick that he had to get 1) More money or years than he's worth 2) A promise that the starting job would be his 3) Both.
