GDT: Toronto at Dallas December 28, 7:30 p.m. central
Mavs need to stay focused against Toronto. Definitely a trap game. Hopefully the MRI will turn out well.

Mavs didn't had any trouble so far with B2B-games. Why should that change against the Raptors? Hope to see the our third string players out there in the 4th.

I think I'd actually prefer Dirk to sit this game out unless he's 100% OK. We've got the big showdown with San Antonio coming up, and that's when he needs to be ready. We can handle Toronto...guys will step up in Dirk's absence. I think our record is pretty good when Dirk is out with injury, and those were much worse teams (suspended for one game a couple years ago, and then he had that ankle injury that sidelined for a little while...that may have been three years ago). And of course, the whole teeth-in-elbow-Gate, where we beat freaking Cleveland with LeBron.
We can play good without Dirk. We've done it in the past. I just don't want to play SAS without Dirk.

If the Spurs are going to lose today we can overtake the top spot in the West on Thursday at home.

I agree Jthig. If it is just a strain or a sprain... I think Dirk will sit it out tonight, and take the two days of rest.

Bargnani and Evans out.
Amir Johnson, Ed Davis, Kleiza, Dorsey, our FC should be still good enough for them without Dirk

The Skull of Roy Tarpley says: " The Raptors are a horrible ball-club, so let us
use cudgel or obsidian edge to bring the rain, and let their bodies be drained of
blood atop the Pyramid of the Moon. If accepted, the blood sacrifice will augur
the raining season to come, and will allow the maize to grow to happy fruition...

dirk needs to sit as long as he needs to get healthy and not have any lingering effects. We can live with a lower rung seed but we can't live without a fully functional and tuned up german.

Agreed. If it's nothing severe, he should sit and get healthy. We need him against San Antonio.

What will make this game sweet is if we come out tonight and put Toronto on its heels from the start and keep them there, all with Dirk sitting out giving a much needed break to his knee.

Much as I want to beat SA, I think Dirk should probably sit out longer than one game, regardless of what the MRI shows. I'll just echo dude's sentiments above.

Minus Dirk, this should not be a trap game even if it is tempting to look at the Spurs and the conference lead looming.
I want to see Butler, Marion and Chandler beast. Dominate on boards, defense and attack the rim. I think our frontline is developing into the team strength if it wasn't already.
Also want to see some productivity from the young bigs (Lex, Ian) and JET have a more balanced ball game.
That should do it.

Yeah, I don't get how this would be a trap game, especially when we might not have Dirk. The rest of the team should be really tuned in and ready to do their part to keep pace with S.A.

Mavs win by 13, drop 2 spots in Hollinger rankings due to massive SoS hit.

Dirk Nowitzki had an MRI performed on his right knee this morning. The results revealed a sprained right knee. He is out for tonight’s game vs. Toronto and will be listed as day-to-day.

I think the idea of the trap game is completely out the window now. All of the antennas are perked up now with Dirk being out for the game.

I'm still buzzing from the win last night! The Mavs should be able to handle the Raptors tonight without Dirk. They just need to come out strong and be ready to play 48 minutes of solid, Dallas Maverick's basketball. This is a good chance for some guys to get solid minutes tonight in Dirk's absence.
LET'S GO MAVS

This will be a tricky game. We don't have a lot of depth at the 4 with Dirk down. Marion will have to play a lot of 4, which hopefully wont hurt us too bad. I'd also love to see Mahinmi out there for a bit. Ajinca has shooting range but appeared lost. If we need more outside shooting, I'd love to see him. What I dont want to see is a center, Butler and three guards. Lets keep the defense strong and the size of each position at least respectable.
Carlisle is back tonight right?

I haven't heard any updates today about the janitor. If there isn't anything new between now and 6...we won't hear anything until we talk to coach at 6.
It is my understanding that Carlisle WILL be coaching tonight. It was just precautionary for him staying and not flying to OKC. They didn't want to risk any damage for his knee as he was up in a plane.
