RE:OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
With the Mavs having a 5-game homestand, you have to wonder if Nellie will continue with this Walker-at-Center stuff....

What should we expect from Marquis in the future? Another Finley? I know it's just 2 great games, but anyway...

Najera has to get a running start. Very little flat-foot explosion.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement of small-ball.. Sounds sceptical.

I think dirk is probably half of the time hilarious. He seems like a big goofball. USUALLY having so much fun out there.

RE:OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
I've got a bad feeling about these 5 games...... But It will probably be indigestion I will be feeling instead of nausea as the Mavs run the freakin' table at home for a 6-game win streak that will get them to 50 wins....and Walker *may* play well(for him) during that stretch...
edit : make that 51 wins..

"Doc Rivers was saying that when he talked to Nelson, he wants Daniels to be the backup pg next year. How he's been giving Daniels most of the backup minutes behind Nash."
I figure they'll sign him this summer, get him on the summer league team so he can have another summer working on those duties.
He's really the perfect combo guard.

MFF..This is telling. Nellie/cubes/donnie have mailed it in and are buildiing for next year. We won't see bradley/williams anymore. That is the reason for the change in lineup.

I think his funniest moments are when he is trying to be serious. I'm not sure if Dirk meant it to be a criticism of Nellie or not, but it sure sounded like it.

Boring game but what do you expect when the worst team in the league plays without its best player? Hopefully things are better after the homestand.

Good game for the Mavs against the worst team in the league - without their superstar.
It's way too hard to guage anything from this game, but I'll take any win any way...
The rooks continue to impress.

yea ..no idea what kind of improvements, if any, we are seeing from the mavs team since we played a mcgrady-less magic
i think the real litmus test is this thursday against the kings in dallas..if we get run off the floor in that game, it's over

the way he's been playing, he looks like a significantly better all around player than finley
better passer, better ball handler and can play PG with no difficulty..he's also shooting close to 50%

RE:OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
Daniels has been tremendous the past two games. He looks so smooth out there and calm its amazing. And Howard man can the kid jump and his jumpshot has really come of age the past four games. I wouldn't get carried away with calling Daniels better then Finley already. Teams don't key to stop marquies daniels like they do mike finley.
If Walker can just accept the role of being a utility player for nelson. Then we can still make some noise out of this season. Walker has been a consistent rebounder. He needs to continue to pound the glass and move without the ball we can be special if he does.
I thought for the first time the mavs played with a swagger on the floor. They have had a habit of playing down to the competitions level.

Marquis Daniels 20pts (9-16), 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. The guy is a monster. That 3pt-block combo was inspirational. He pops a three and comes down to help on the weak side and elevates like MJ to snap the shot away. It's possible to play defense and offense for a few of our guys.

RE: OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
I didn't get to watch the game, but in scanning over the play-by-play here's what I noticed:
1st quarter: Dirk and AJ don't play together, Mavs end the quarter up by 5.
2nd quarter: Dirk and AJ are on court together all 12 minutes, Mavs stretch the lead to 19 at the half.
3rd quarter: Dirk and AJ don't play together, Mavs break even and end the quarter still up by 19.
4th quarter: Dirk and AJ are both on the court for the first 5:49, Mavs stretch the lead to 28 points.
So here's what that gives us: in the 24 minutes leading up to the garbage time subs coming in that Dirk and AJ were not on the court TOGETHER, the Mavs outscored the Magic by 5 points. In the 17:49 that Dirk and AJ were on court at the same time the Mavs outscored the Magic by 23 points. Hmm.

RE: OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
I don't like all this negativity on this board it's getting redundant....a few of you have really lost all faith in this team because apparently a loss to the Magic was inevitable.....how sad.
This game did infact show something......the Mavs need to RUN and GUN....even if it's the two rookies who have to jack up shots and 18 footers off of one pass off an outlet.....this is the team's identity and they need to get back to it at least 80% of the game offensively....
It's nice to see Dirk shoot with more confidence instead of alway fading away.....off balanced shots are way too tough.....
Steve Nash is an amazing basetball player......he should shoot 30 times a game....

Hmm. That's what I can say about this, too. I think they worked so fine together on the court because the Magic are such a bad defensive ( and offensive ) team, but I like AJ in the starting lineup. Nash-Finley(if inj. Daniels )-Howard-Jamison-Nowitzki

The thing with Dirk and Jamison is that they were both scoring!!!!
Any combo lineup with Walker and player X is not going to be that great because Walker can't score and isn't being asked to score.

RE: OFFICIAL: Dallas @ Orlando Gameday Thread
Jesus, Puba. Now pay attention, becuase you will not be able to argue this away. Any combo lineup with Walker and Player X would only look bad because: 1) Walker and Player X are not a good combo, 2) when Walker and Player X were on the floor together, they were up against superior competition. Either way, saying that not being succesful can be excused because, "Walker can't score and isn't being asked to score" completely misses the point. I don't care how players do it, but either they help the team outscore the opponent, or they don't play much. Period. Really not that hard a concept to grasp, okay.
Beyond that, I wasn't even talking about Walker. I was talking about AJ and Dirk.

Weren't you the one who, a few games ago, was claiming that the Mavs will definitely lose if Dirk plays a lot of minutes? If that's not negativity, I don't know what is.

Dirk leading the team in minutes and having a mediocre record is my observation, not negativity in itself.
