Though I don't understand how they let James get away with some of the things he does. Plenty of traveling.

Alright, when is the next Mavs game? I need my fix.

I tweeted this:

This kind of seems like the Heat in a nutshell: Wade hurt, LeBron rolling and then deferring in the clutch and Bosh trying to step up/be the man in the clutch = Loss

By the way, in only 14 minutes, Dirk LED the West in defensive rebounds.

Hah agree. Though Bosh did kill for a little bit. Too bad there is close to no defense to make it seem like an accomplishment.

And...way out of place in a game like this. The only basketball game in the world that makes Dirk look like he doesn't belong.

Durant hit some great shots. I kinda wanted him to win MVP. I thought it was funny when the 4 Boston players went in as if *that* was going to make the East tear $h!t up and they basically did nothing.

Ha, ha, I did too. The idea was solid as hell. But when they didn't do crap...well...it was kinda embarrassing. I felt kinda awkward watching it.

Dozens? Come on. He jumped from 6 feet out and cleared a barrier that came up to his thighs, if that. There are a hundred guys in the NBA alone that could do that dunk.

Maybe multiple thousands is hyperbolic, but there are a ton of guys in college and a ton of guys running in high school/AAU that could do that dunk.

It's thousands, I'd have to agree. If you are athletic and can dunk, not like a Haywood/Dampier type, you should be able to do this dunk. All he did was his normal dunk and bend his legs back, then hang on the rim. What was special about it? It was all about product placement, not the dunk. A pathetic attempt at advertising. I bet the NBA made him do that dunk.

Yep, back in '88 I saw a 17-year-old kid clear the handlebars of a Harley (similar to this one) in a dunk competition in Albion, Michigan - it was easily a good foot or so higher than the hood of the car Blake Griffin jumped over (and this is some kid the world has never heard of, not an NBA All-Star...)

All you have to do is bend your legs back? Let me tell you as someone who can dunk its not as easy as just cocking back and lifting your legs up. He makes it look easy as do a lot of guys in the NBA but its very difficult. It takes more than hops to be a great dunker. While I don't think what Blake did was that special I think anyone who thought he would do anything other than what he did with that car was fooling themselves. I'm a little shocked the Clippers let him attempt the dunk anyway.

There's a big, BIG difference between being able to dunk and being someone that can jump over something to dunk. There's no doubt about that.

But the number of people watching that can simply dunk at all is in the hundreds of thousands. No one's saying JJ Barea could execute that dunk.

But there are still PLENTY of high fliers all over the country that never sniffed the NBA that could pull off that dunk.

I think DeRozan got robbed even more, but the both got screwed that's for sure. Griffin was 4th after the first round, as far as I'm concerned.

Griffin took a pass off the side of the backboard and tomahawked it and got a 46.

DeRozan did the same thing except he went through his legs from a harder angle and got a 45.

I agree but also take inconsideration that it was more than a dunk. He had to catch a bad pass from Baron who was inside a car and he still had plenty of elevation on the dunk. Personally I know about 10 close friends that can do that dunk and a grip of others who've i've played basketball with on weekends. But its not as easy as just dunking. I can say though I did enjoy the presentation. It was hyped up. Did it live up to the hype? No but it was fun and in recent memory the Dunk contests haven't been fun. They've been rather boring to say the least.

IMO, the best part of the All Star Dunk Contest was the 1st round. Everyone went IN. I thought Blake's 2 handed 360 was dunk of the night.

In that 1st round? You think he should've made it past Blake and Javale? There are very few people in the world that can do what Javale did. And Blake hit a two handed 360 dunk. I like Ibaka's dunk but it was hardly innovative at all. I'll say this though he by far had the best dunk from the free throw line dunk of all time. That's if you don't count Shawn Kemp's who was passed the free throw line but he actually cocked his back and dunked it.

Dunking in general is so freaking overrated.

Re-read my post; I said it was his normal dunk. His normal dunk happens to be hi-flying, so he just needs to cock his legs back. I can't dunk, but I can jump over the hood of a car. It's not that high. A professional skater can ollie over a car hood...a million times more difficult.

It was definitely the prop that won the contest for Blake, not the dunk.

McGee had the best dunk imo.

Its not about it being high though. There's also width. So you're telling me you can jump over the hood of a car? Factoring in the width of it as well? I'm calling duck tales. lol

How was that not a 360? He took off and he was facing the goal. Not only that but he actually cocked the ball back with two hands.

ummm. If you put that car in the way of Ibaka on that first dunk, he clears it no problem and he jumped from twice as far away.

People can ollie over hoods of cars...

What is it, about 3 feet wide? I think I could do it, but maybe not. Might be hard for me to maintain the height to get over it with me being out of shape; not overweight, just unconditioned. I know I could at one time and would like to think I could hurdle a 3x3ish object right now.

I like how all these car dunking videos highest rated comments already refer to Blake Griffin.

Barkley said exactly what I was thinking when I saw that dunk..

"I hate to say this, but that's not the best dunk."

It was.. man, I can't believe that Griffins popularity pushed him to win. Every single other dunk was better than any of his. His first and second were the same thing except he started from different spots on the court.

I felt very disappointed. I love the 3 pt contest, though. Those are some skilled mofos.

the first try for the pass off the side of the backbaord. Isn't that the dunk where he had to go to 'plan b'?

Dirk would have most definitely started if the Knickerbockers would have gotten the Melo deal done before Allstar....
