1)topics are already started in the general threads, and keeping multiple partial conversations going doesn't work

2)it's not always about starting new topics, but about joining into ongoing discussions. That's hard to do for some people when multiple discussions are in the same thread.

people should exercise the new thread option (everyone knows they can) instead of rolling all the threads into a single topic.

Why don't YOU exercise the new thread option? There have been plenty of topics this offseason (and plenty of threads), but the only thread you actually created was the Tyson Chandler thread (which is almost as vague as calling it "The Official Tyson Chandler Thread" when what you're really talking about is Tyson Chandler's participation with Team USA...)

For there to be threaded ongoing topics to participate in, SOMEONE has to "start new threads". Why not the person who is complaining about this.

because topics are ongoing, lumped together in a single thread. To move the discussion out to its own thread would be a community effort.

You're complaining about how other people use this site as if there's some solution to your complaint...

The only solution I can see is taking away everyone's free will to lump everything into one thread, otherwise your only solution is to live with it and stop bitching. You can't change how everyone else uses this site, but you can change how you deal with it.

If you want new threads for a topic, then make new threads, but quit crying about how everyone else conducts themselves... This is a message board, we're going to get off-topic and talk about things as they pop into our mind, regardless of which thread we're in (you know, the same way you chose to talk about better uses for the DUST Chip in the Tyson Chandler thread when there's already another thread dedicated to the DUST Chip... How will anyone know where to look for that conversation???)

You're the one implying that old members stopped posting here because of "official threads" and "attitudes like mine" (as if the "move the f*ck on" attitude wasn't a regular fixture on this site back in the Good Ol' Days...)

I know the world sucks and it's everyone's fault but yours, but did you ever think that maybe lack of participation by older members has more to do with a 1st-round loss to Golden State, a 1st-round loss to New Orleans, a 2nd-round loss to Denver and a 1st-round loss to San Antonio than it has to do with anything that anyone around here has done in the last 4 years?

I'm not complaining, bitching, or crying. I'm just saying that I think a discussion board works better with threaded discussions. You are getting emotional and personal.

my implication is that you are purposefully chasing off people who might otherwise be productive posters - and I'm starting to think it's because you've got some weird personal attachment to the official threads thing.

When people say that the single thread for multiple topics thing is too hard for them to deal with, then I take them at their word.

I find "The Official Tyson Chandler Thread" to be a much less vague and more specific thread title than "Tyson Chandler".
